So, you deny that God's Word says to come out of her and be separate in order to be a son or daughter. Interesting.

Not sure we serve the same God.

No, I do not deny that we are to come out of her and be separate, but when people are newly saved (and for many even after they have been saved for quite some time), they have not yet learned everything that they are to be separate from.

It is rather evident that you don't believe the scriptures:

1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

or as Paul wrote to the SAVED people of the church in Corinth:

1 Corinthians 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

Is this not a similar prOBlem to some of what we see in the Catholic church?

But this is not true for Catholics is it SFIC, if you are newly saved and coming out of the Catholic Church you had best be fully ready for spiritual meat. No opportunity for newborn babes coming out of the Catholic Church, its either meat or go to hell.

With your method of handling Catholics, I wonder how many of them you have actually pushed even further into their RCC and hell.

Nom, I just wanted to encourage you in your witness to this lady. We have, through the years, been able to lead a number of people to the Lord in the nursing home.  We (my hubby and me) take a group of people from our church to an area nursing home (our church has the privilege of reaching a large number of nursing homes in this area) each Saturday morning.

One thing that many people don't understand (and it's OBvious from some of the comments on this thread that some here don't, as well) is that most of the folk in nursing homes are old. Old and set in their ways.  Taught what they believe (or even coming to the belief via their own study), they cling to it.  It is familiar to them, and they are loath to change.  Many of them get confused easily and so cling all the more to what they knew in their childhood.  EVEN religion.   Or should I say especially religion.

Time and teaching, with the Holy Spirit leading them, is the only way to help anyone,  let alone an older person in a nursing home, understand that they need to separate from something that was always such a large part of their lives. Some never come to that understanding. NOT because they aren't saved, but because they are getting old.  Not all old people get slower in their thinking, but folks in the nursing home sure do.  A combination of whatever their prOBlem is, medications (and they are on a lot!), etc. creates issues with their minds that people who don't work with them on a regular basis can never understand.

Nom - compassion is vital when dealing with anyone, but especially with the most vulnerable of society.  And who would that be?  Children and older people (especially those in a nursing home). As you found out to your chagrin, finger pointing and arguing against one's beliefs does not change them. Only the conviction of the Holy Spirit via the presentation of the Word of God - lovingly given - can.

BTW - the command to be separate in Corinthians was given to those who are already saved...it is not a prerequisite for salvation. Were it, the greater majority of us, if not all of us, would never have been able to be saved...

I'd have "liked" your post 50 times but it's not allowed. You are a wise lady!

God bless.

I disagree.  God said Come out.. and I will receive you.  This means they would not be received if they never come out.
Come out.. and I will be your Father.  This means if they never come out, He will not be their Father.
Come out.. and you will be my sons and daughters.  This means if they never come out, they will not be His sons and daughters.

But God says of the saved, they are His sons.  Romans 8.

No,, those that passage in Corinthians were the unsaved that were in amongst the saved of the Church.

Sorry, but that adds to salvation.  Coming out in separation is a result and fruit of salvation, but not a prerequisite.  God makes it clear that trusting Christ and Christ alone is the way of salvation.  He does not add actions to our salvation.  Again - separating is a result, not a prerequisite.

The coming out proves they were saved. Not coming out proves they were not saved. Not adding to Salvation at all. God said, come out, and I will receive you.

And so I restate:

You're no stranger to slander it appears. My works are that I give this woman the Gospel at least once a month and point out errors within the Catholic Church at least as much. And I am not a liberal, but I'm not a fascist either.

You're right, I'm slandered regularly, but so what, it's counted a blessing.

Allow me to correct what's taught in government schools:  Fascism is not "right wing" or the other extreme of liberalism.  Fascism is a necessary component of Socialism/Communism.  It doesn't always fit the definition real pretty like but it is an element of them.

You mentioned the NLT earlier, where does that translation fit in with your life?

And given her age, one would think rather than arguing that she is saved, you would be going there and urging her more earnestly to get rid of her catholic memorabilia... showing her the verse that says she will not be received if she does not get rid of those things.

This has nothing to do with Smith's passing.  They've been this kooky for years and years.  Again, if Smith was the controlling force of all these Calvary Chapel's, that's another reason why are not now and never were a New Testament Church.  Christ is the head of the NT church, not Chuck Smith.

We here know that real tongues are foreign languages and not gibber gabber.

You do not walk in his shoes, so you cannot know what he does. And if he shows her that verse after she has accepted Christ, explaining about separation, fine. But if he then hinges her salvation on it, he's lying.  I like you SFIC, but stop adding to salvation.

Swath, just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't make that one a liberal. Knock it off. I'm tired of the name-calling by folks who claim the name of Christ.  Just tired of it.

Even you, SFIC, stated that it was a result..."proof."  That's a result, not a prerequisite.  And since you are not God, you cannot know whether a woman who is near 100 and always been a Catholic who does not get rid of certain things proscribed by you to get rid of is saved or not. If she called upon the name of the Lord in repentance for her sins, she is saved.  Period.  The Holy Spirit will deal with the dross that needs to be removed from her life in His time, not yours or mine.  Just as He does with all of us.

Forgive me, but the point was made.

The NLT doesn't, but if read the rest of my posts as thoroughly as you do the nits you wish to pick you would know that.

And given her age, one would think rather than arguing that she is saved, you would be going there and urging her more earnestly to get rid of her catholic memorabilia... showing her the verse that says she will not be received if she does not get rid of those things.

You read as well as swathdiver. I have explained repeatedly, but let me type real slow here so you might be able to catch it this time...

You're right but you've misunderstood the post.  This fellow accused me of being unloving and not following after Christ which is what liberals do when they feel threatened.  In my original post, I was exhorting him, cheering him on, not rebuking.

Now in post #149 he's slandering me again.  I don't care in the least, but you do.

In post #119 NDP says "To be honest I think she understands the Gospel and that she is saved."  So in this post we learn that NDP preaches to these folks but has not directly witnessed or questioned the lady, right? right.

My response in post #120 says "So what are you two waiting for?  Witness to the lady and find out." and for that I'm called names by NDP and eventually rebuked by you.

:offended:
