And that's completely twisting what I had said, and John had replied to. we weren't speaking of covetousness, but about people excelling in spite of what is perceived to be their 'situation', because they were willing to work hard to succeed.

The reference I made was to those blacks who, despite slavery still being active, or just barely ending, managed to gain an education, often educating themselves, and being voted into the United States Congress. I have a poster of seven black congressmen, all Republicans, from a painting done in about 1877. The point being, these men excelled because they worked hard, they 'did what was necessary', (ie, worked hard) to succeed, compared to these schools who are insisting that blacks and hispanics can't excel if they are made to work alongside whites, and somehow, this is supposed to be 'progressive'.

I was not twisting nothing that anyone said, yet what I said it a great truth, & its spreading like wildfire throughout this country, even into many Baptist Churches.

But it's usually one or two children in the whole school actually allergic to peanut butter. Why does everyone else (the majority) have to constantly re-adjust for a few students?

Just like everything else in America now...

When someone is deadly allergic to peanut butter isn't it nice for us who are not to make sure that they cannot come in contact with it, especially when its young school children?

Plus today it has become very common. Of course until just a very few years back I had never heard of it. Its amazing, even alarming at the number of people who has allergies, & especially the number who has diabetes?

Peanut allergy is one of the most common food allergies. Peanuts can cause a severe, potentially fatal, allergic reaction (anaphylaxis). Therefore it is advised that people with peanut allergy have quick access to an epinephrine auto-injector (such as an EpiPen®, Auvi-Q® or Adrenaclick®) at all times. To prevent a reaction, strict avoidance of peanut and peanut products is essential. Always read ingredient labels to identify peanut ingredients.

That would make too much sense so we can't do that. Today it's the minority voice that dictates to the majority. One person complains about a rodeo clown and it becomes a national tragedy. One mother complains about a prayer at a school ballgame and the prayers are banned. A school with 5 Muslim students changes their schedule and room usage in order to accommodate their religious practices.

On and on, the one or the few are dictating to the majority on a number of matters. Gone is the concept of personal responsibility. Gone is the idea that locals can govern themselves and live their own lives without outside governmental interference. Gone is the idea that parents should care for their own children and teach and train them properly.

When I was a child we faced these issues but we managed to deal with them without bannings, governmental interference or court orders. The only thing I remember we dealt with because of a minority was having to eat fishsticks in school on Fridays because of Catholics; which in this area there were exceedingly few, and even fewer in the school I attended.

If you knew someone with Peanut allergies you might understand why this is not "pandering to the minority"......

I do know folks with peanut allergies and we had some in school when I was a child and they managed just fine without having to ban everyone else from eating peanut butter.

We also had students who were allergic to other foods and they didn't ban them either.

The parents made sure their children were fully informed of the matter and knew what to do and not do. They also made sure the school was made fully aware. There were never any problems.

I do know children with peanut allergies and they're the only ones in the school that have it but nobody else can bring it to school. Their  mother carries an EpiPen and the kids know they're allergic so they're able to monitor it too. If it's deadly to someone who can't be in same room then they need to be homeschooled. Not every parent has money for lunchmeat vs. cheap pb&j. There could be an allergy table for kids with allergies so they're more monitored. But to ban entire school of anything peanut is ridiculous.

The trouble is, that if someone is hyperallergic to nuts then a minute amount can kill them.

That is why most ready meals here say:

"Recipe, No nuts.

Produced in a factory not using nuts.

Cannot guarantee nut free."

in a school you may have ONE child that allergic to peanuts. the kid knows he's allergic and the teacher knows. keep epi pen on hand and let the REST of us have our pb and j. Like I said if a kid is that sensitive that just smelling them causes a severe reaction then they shouldn't be within general public anyway.

I'm sure the state would consider that a disability and would provide an aide during day to be with student to make sure no peanut sniffing is going on.

There was a case a few years ago, where a child died from allergic reaction and they had no earlier indication that the child was allergic to nuts.

Anyway, who wants to eat peanut butter? it is awful stuff.

Sesame seed is just as bad.

Man, I LOVE peanut butter! I'll eat me some peanut butter right off a spoon! I spread it on an apple, on a piece of cheddar cheese, or melt some cheese on peanut butter and bread. I especiialy like the kind with nuts, extra crunchy! Put it on whole-grain wheat berry bread with a generous helping of strawberry or apricot/pineapple preserves, a cold glass of fresh-squeezed goat or cow juice, and I'm set. Put on the Three Stooges and leave me alone!
