Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Biblical marriage will stand in the hearts and practice of those who love and honor the Lord no matter what any appointed U.S. judge determines. No matter, we need to pray for God’s will to be done.

If the hearts of these 9 men turn from a God honoring decision; it will be another sin attributed to this nation which, we are a part of. Try to distance yourself from it as much as you want, by any excuse, you’re still a member.

God is the Supreme Court, not this panel of 9 appointed men.

We should be praying for our leaders and nation daily, including the Lord's will be done. Regardless of the courts decisions, true followers of Christ will continue in Him no matter what the rest of the nation or world does. I do pray the Lord would move the hearts of the judges to rule in accord with His will.

Sometimes I wonder if it's even acceptable to ask for God's blessing upon this nation any more. Just two days ago, the Huffington Post published an article about a new piece of artwork titled "Noah's Gay Wedding Cruise". It features various famous homosexual celebrities and "gay animals" embracing one another on the ark, under a gay pride rainbow while pro-traditional marriage supporters are shown drowning in the sea below. The comments below the article were overwhelmingly in favor of this painting and said things like, "Xtians stole this fable from the pagans!" and "fundies turned the beautiful pagan story of the ark into a story of incest and racism! I'm glad someone is using the story for good for a change!"

These are some scary times, folks. Scary, indeed.

I agree. We can't simply ask for God to bless us as a nation because as a nation we have so turned against Him. What we can do is ask for God to do a move in this nation. We can ask God to change hearts and minds. We can ask God to move in a certain situation. We can ask God to work things in a manner that His will shall be done. We can ask God to help us see our sins, to repent of them and turn to Him. We can ask for things along these lines.

This is what my family prays for now. We pray for revival. And we pray for the Lord to not tarry much longer in His return. Some days I think I'd love to see my son grow up, get married, give me grandbabies. Then there are other times I am so weary of this world and just want to go Home.

My wife and I don't pray for a blessing on our country, but we do pray for mercy, as I see from scripture that we are ripe for judgment.

I think, no matter the outcome of this panel of 9 men, we are called to continue living the Christian life taught to us in the Bible. God is the judge. What ever the outcome is I'll give him the praise.

I wonder about this too. With the ways things are going in our country how can any Christians think or expect God to bless this nation. As a nation we have turned our back on God, & most of our leaders are busy trying to remove God from our nation.

That's right. Rather than praying for God to bless our nation when we know He can't bless wickedness, we should be praying the Lord would bring us to repentance and turn our hearts toward Him.

One thing I, & our members generally do is pray for all of our brothers & sisters in Christ for strength to follow Jesus very closely being a good witness for our Lord while bringing glory on Christ.

I hope I'm wrong, but I believe this nation is done for.  I don't see anything but an awaiting for judgment from God Almighty.  Perhaps it's time for the real Christians to "come out from among them and be ye separate."  I know the church we attend is made up of people who have as little to do with this world as we have to in order to live peaceable among all men.

I fear that the day of persecution is just around the corner for true believers.  The church has slept long enough, it's time to start acting like God's people.

Note:  I don't mean that our church is somehow any better than anyone else's and I certainly don't intend this to infer that the members of this forum are not true believers who are not completely doing what God wants them to do.

We are told so within the pages of the Bible. yet many Christians keep saying they will leave this world a much better place than they found it. When its a fact the Bible tells us just the opposite & exactly what will become of this world. God has already judge it, & told what would become of it. Yet few seem to believe it, even many church members.

¶ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.  Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 2 Peter 3:10-14

And the church members place more importance in their children getting a worldly education so they can make much money having the better life than they do in education them about God & the only Savior. Therefore yoking up more with the world than Christ who can save them & their children. While Christ is only of great importance when a family member or loved one dies & or may be deadly sick.

This is an especial problem here in America. It seems American Christians are willing to accept that Christians "over there" might suffer persecution and bad times, but American Christians expect their lives to be filled with all things good, everyone getting along, no one bothering them, no real troubles. American Christians want to have their feet planted in the church and in the world. A little "religion" to get them by, help them feel better, while following the ways of the world when it comes to raising their children, their entertainment, their jobs, their lifestyle, their activities.

So many Christian parents won't bother to have their children in Sunday school, complain it's just too much trouble, to difficult, too early, but let the school schedule a sports banquet on Sunday and these same parents and their children will be up and ready and drive 30 miles without complaint to attend the event.

Perhaps on another note, but something that's a real problem, is how so many Christians are more drawn to a particular pastor than they are drawing closer to Christ. When the pastor is out of town for some reason and he has another pastor preach for him, it's very common for the attendance to drastically drop. Normal attendance may be 200 but when there is a guest pastor maybe only 120 will attend. Nearly half the congregation shows their lack of interest in gathering at church, showing what amounts to disrespect to the guest pastor and their own pastor who selected them for that occasion, and indicating that when they can't hear "their pastor", they are uninterested in hearing the Word preached.
