My own dad says that Born Again Christians are full of hate why should he become one?

Many Christians are full of hate. Are you saying that we are because we don't like a man's policies? Boy, that will fit well into BO's suppression of any dissent (which, BTW, he worked at very well during his campaign).

My dislike of BO's policies (not the man - I would probably enjoy chatting with him for a little bit; he is a charming person) is not hatred of any person. It is hatred of policy. And that isn't anti-Christian. Christians are supposed to hate sin.

And, with all love and kindness, that isn't the reason your dad isn't saved. He isn't saved because he doesn't want to surrender to Christ, and he is using an excuse that sounds good. But we both know that won't hold water on judgment day. I hope your dad will be able to see beyond that and come to Christ, I really do!!!

Hate? Listen to yourself! Obama wants to kill babies...that's not hate?

And as far as race, we are trying to tell you that Obama is not pure African American so how could this possibly be about race, even if we wanted it to be?

you know KJVKay, this is really insulting to bring up race. I am biracial myself. I have mixed native indians - seminoles- who may have married blacks. My dad have very dark indian skin color too. People used to call him N word. My mom had a picture of him with her on her school bus, and they teased her about dating a "N"

But to say I am racist because of politics is really horrible.

Obama isn't the first president who is mixed race. There was one other president who had black in him. Obama is the first president who have more melanin in his skin.

So I'm beginning to think this whole race thing is really about politics. (like they say, conservative is a white person thing.. but whatever, they are racist to accuse conservative = white)

I agree - we are judging this man by his CHARACTER (which is all BAD) and NOT by his COLOR. He would still be a bad man no matter what color he is.

Check this out:

The first president with African ancestry was Jefferson, who served two terms between 1801 and 1809. Jefferson was described as the "son of a half-breed Indian squaw and a Virginia mulatto father," as stated in Vaughn's findings. Jefferson also was said to have destroyed all documentation attached to his mother, even going to extremes to seize letters written by his mother to other people.

President Andrew Jackson, the nation's seventh president, was in office between 1829 and 1837. Vaughn cites an article written in The Virginia Magazine of History that states Jackson was the son of an Irish woman who married a Black man. The magazine also stated that Jackson's oldest brother had been sold as a slave.

Lincoln, the nation's 16th president, served between 1861 and 1865. Lincoln was said to have been the illegitimate son of an African man, according to Vaughn's findings. Lincoln had very dark skin and coarse hair and his mother allegedly came from an Ethiopian tribe. His heritage fueled so much controversy that Lincoln was nicknamed "Abraham Africanus the First" by his opponents.

President Warren Harding, the 29th president, in office between 1921 and 1923, apparently never denied his ancestry. According to Vaughn, William Chancellor, a professor of economics and politics at Wooster College in Ohio, wrote a book on the Harding family genealogy. Evidently, Harding had Black ancestors between both sets of parents. Chancellor also said that Harding attended Iberia College, a school founded to educate fugitive slaves.

Coolidge, the nation's 30th president, served between 1923 and 1929 and supposedly was proud of his heritage. He claimed his mother was dark because of mixed Indian ancestry. Coolidge's mother's maiden name was "Moor," and in Europe, the name "Moor" was given to all Blacks, just as "Negro" was used in America. It later was concluded that Coolidge was part Black.

What does saying my dad things Born Again Christians hates have to do about Obama's color?

You're the one who brought it into the discussion, and earlier you mentioned his color as being the reason people don't like him...

So, does it have anything to do with it?

When you stand against something someone else is for, there will always be those who will claim its because of hate. they do this because that is the only attack they know to use against you.

And yes, its an attack.

Remember what they did to Jesus!

Not sure what Obama being black has to do with any of this.

What specific lies are you talking about?

How will Obama bring back jobs you claim Bush sent off; specifically?

Is Obama going to get America out of NAFTA or GATT?

Is Obama going to rebuild the American manufacturing base?

Is Obama going to change taxation and regulatory laws so that companies won't place their businesses in other countries but will build new operations here?

Is Obama going to send the illegal immigrants back so American citizens won't have to shell out billions of dollars each year for their care and so American citizens can have the jobs they vacate?

The scariest part is...who in America would be the closest to "Jews" in a parallel story?

Ummmm evangelical Christians! And maybe Mormons....anybody far extreme "right". Yikes.

Yup, you're right. Obama's going to round up all the Christians and burn them at the stake. Meanwhile, the House, Senate, Federal Supreme Court, State Governments, state police forces will all sit back and say, "yeah, that's a great idea. Hitler wasn't a bad guy. Let's kill Christians now instead of Jews." :loco :bonk: :roll

And you say WHO is drinking the koolaid? :eek

Its not going to be THAT...sheesh...

Its going to be limiting pastors from preaching against gays (hate speech), outlawing Biblical discipline, homeschooling, possibly even certain Christian schools, stuff like that. It won't be gas chambers, but its still going to be a matter of possibly jail time for some. Frankly.

It's all about what HE has said HE would do in office, no matter his race or gender. Close my eyes and just read his position papers. He is positions are anti christian, that matters more than any other factor. He is also anti constitution, which he will swear ro uphold and defend from ALL enemies, foriegn and DOMESTIC, we needn't fear anything, God is in control, but watch those who want to remove the controls that have made this the most successful, representative democracy in history (or any other form of government for that matter).

A good friend and I have been discussing Obama by email over the past few days. Here are a few things we've talked about.
Interesting articles we've discussed: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122602757767707787.html "Obama Ran a Capitalist Campaign"
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122602757767707787.html "Obama Nation"

So if Barack Obama is not the ?cure all? that many liberals are hoping, and he will in fact at time disappoint them dearly, neither is he the beast that conservative, fund raisers, and activists will now portray. Understand, they are in ?the sky is falling business.? Nothing personal, it pays the bills.

And finally, as I have pointed out in my earlier posts?. there is much good, even for conservatives, to come out of this moment.

For one thing, Obama will be immensely popular in the world. And popularity means power. Obama standing down Iran, with the world at his back, is far more intimidating than George W. Bush launching threats that the whole world, including the Iranians, know he can?t deliver. And the same applies to Russia and any other possible confrontation.

Secondly, a popular America will once again be a magnet of investment and just in time to help us in this economic crisis.

Finally, the restored American brand seals for our lifetime the American dream. Even if we are to later have another Bush, the world knows that American can also find another Obama too. In their mind, we can re-invent ourselves. It will engender more patience for future errant administrations.

The other point I want to make to you is that the American politics of the left and the right, which seems so urgent and dangerous to you now, are really very close to each other. At least, compared to other countries and other societies. And they are instructed by trends that are deeply societal, beyond partisan platforms. If John McCain had been elected, Roe vs. Wade would not likely have been overturned. And now with Barack Obama we are not likely to return to courts who coddle criminals and punish victims. Keep in mind. We have just witnessed the socialization of the American Banking system and it has happened on the watch of your own, ?conservative,? Republican, George W. Bush. Nothing the ?liberal? Obama will do can really compare to such a ?leftist? act.

So, take some advice from one who has given his life to the study of presidential history. Relax. Be proud of a great moment. Pray for your new president and his family. And join the celebration.

This article is written from a more liberal perspective but is very interesting to read through. Here's a quote from it:

The real problem with partisanship, Obama believes, is that it?s no longer pragmatic. After decades of bruising fights in Washington, it has become incompatible with effective government. ?I believe any attempt by Democrats to pursue a more sharply partisan and ideological strategy misapprehends the moment we?re in,? he writes in ?Hope.? ?I am convinced that whenever we exaggerate or demonize, oversimplify or overstate our case, we lose. Whenever we dumb down the political debate, we lose. For it?s precisely the pursuit of ideological purity, the rigid orthodoxy and the sheer predictability of our current political debate, that keeps us from finding new ways to meet the challenges we face as a country.

My friend made the point that Obama is a long way off from being a presidential dictator compared to what FDR was during another financial crisis in our nation's history. Remember, people also like to speculate that FDR knew about and allowed the attack on Pearl Harbor. There will always be conspiracy theories out there but most of them are far from true.
