So, does anyone have any plans for today? I got up this morning to a hand-made card by my hubby. There was a heart drawn of X's and O's, with 3 heart stickers. Instructions were to put the stickers on any of the X's and O's and await further instruction. I'm to keep my card with me at all times, and, apparently, throughout the day will have stickers to place on the remaining X's and O's. Once they are all covered, I will get my surprise. :icon_mrgreen: My hubby is so imaginative! And to think, all he got from me was 3 candy kisses at his place this morning. He didn't complain - he ate 'em after getting some real ones. :clapping:

My wife collects ladybugs and daisies so I bought her some cute 'ladybug' flower pots, daisy-shaped saucers and matching salt/pepper shakers for the kitchen.
My daughter collects bears so for her it was a cute ceramic teddy bear figurine holding a heart that says ;be mine'. I also bought my son a coffee mug full of candy.
I don't celebrate 'valentine's day'. It's just another occasion to say "i love you' to my loved ones.

Mine is still going on today....

My hubby got me a card at lunchtime yesterday, with 3 more heart stickers. When I got home last night, there was a candle with 3 more heart stickers. And this morning another card with 3 more stickers. :icon_mrgreen: He said he wanted to stretch it out to two days. He's such a sweetie.

And a person doesn't have to be Catholic to express their love. :)

Why not? It's no worse than calling the days of the week by their names - all named for gods. Or the months - all named for gods. We don't worship the "saint." We just have fun with the day. And it's not like it's the only day of the year we do things like this. We just use it. :clapping:

The threads title says "Happy Valentines Day", a clear endorsement of Catholicism. You might as well confess your purchase of indulgences in chocolates. As well, since the RCC only recognizes one day for such indulgences, you need to take leather cords, with knots tied into the ends, and flail your back until enough blood pours forth to atone for your transgression in daring to express yourself in aforesaid manners beyond the approved time limit. Let this serve as a warning and remembrance unto all generations. :wub:

@John: :bleh::lol:

Actually, my hubby bought Rocky Road ice cream for dessert last night - my favorite ice cream...a true indulgence that doesn't happen very often at all (can't remember the last time we had ice cream at all). I got him a Snicker bar on Monday...and he snickered. (*snicker*)

Our church started the Marriage Course. We did this last fall. It was a 10 week course where you are served great food in a romantic atmosphere at tables for two, there is a short presentation about a given topic, and then you and yoru spouse talk about it to work on your relationship (topics such as communication, family backgrounds, expectations, finances, sex, confilct resolution, etc.)

This year we kicked off the course on Valentines Day. There were 30 couples. We helped prepare and serve meals, and prayed that God would strengthen, mend, deepen, and heal relationships. It was a wonderful way to spend Valentines Day with my wife. There is nothing like ministering to other people with your spouse to strengthen your own relationship.
