She was referring to the swine flu vaccine, which is a weakened version of the virus.

only the mist is the weakened. The shot contained the dead virus, at least that's what our vaccination paper on swine flu says.

Because the mist is the weakened virus, people with asthma can't take it. They put dead viruses in shots instead for people who can't take the mist just to be safe.

The thing is that doesn't work.

Many keep claiming falsely that the flu shot gives people the flu, but it does not. UNLESS that person is sick at the time of the shot, which is why I did not get one last year.

And I understand well, those who claim this, there is nothing that can be said to make them understand this.

One more thing, very healthy along with unhealthy people and many in between these 2 groups gets the flu. Its been proven that a simple flu shot can stop it.

That is the reason our Armed Services require all of its members to get a flu shot each year, because it saves them many dollars treating the flu, plus the loss of man man hours from our soldiers. I might add, the average solider it very healthy.

Jerry, I'm not going to argue, but you're flat wrong. I've known people personally who have gotten severely ill from the flu as a result of the vaccine. And they were perfectly healthy beforehand. It isn't any lack of understanding on my part - it's knowledge.

And what is it that doesn't work? Every vaccine, no matter what it is, is a form of whatever illness it purports to vaccinate against. Sometimes it's a live form, sometimes a dead form. But either way, it is very possible to get a full blown case of the illness from the vaccination. If you don't believe it, check the CDC information about it. That is why there is always a warning given on the paperwork that parents have to sign giving permission for any vaccination.

Interesting little tid-bit about the swine flu vaccine and the military. It is required, as you said. And very many of those who I know have taken it got ill. Not necessarily with the flu, but with strange symptoms. An entire barracks that I know of was stricken after their shots. A few of those may have been sick with something before they got their shots, but not all of them - not even most of them.

And, no, it hasn't been proven that a flu shot can stop the flu. That is your opinion, and you are entitled to it. But making blanket statements like that is wrong - because the precept behind it is wrong.

Many claim that vaccines are the best way to avoid the illness. That isn't true. Taking care of the immune system that God gave us is actually the best way to fight any illness. Compromised immune systems exist, and medical help is needed - but vaccines are not the only answer.

I don't aim to argue with you about it either. I simply stated my opinion as you did. Is it alright for me to state my opinion if I disagree with you?

Plus, if you are not going to argue about it, why post so much once again about you opinion questioning what I stated?

If you will check you will find most medical doctor will tell you the same thing I stated.

I have the winter flu jab every year and have never had a prOBlem with it, neither has my wife. An aged friend had the jab 5 years ago and has had severe arthritis ever since and hOBbles on two sticks. Her doctor said the jab could have caused it.

Remember that flu can be a killer. The 1918 -1919 flu epidemic killed more people that the WW1. My step grandfather prOBably died of it in 1918 while in the Canadian army, although he is recorded as having pneumonia and arthritis. At first it was not diagnosed as flu, just pneumonia and arthritis.

I get the flu shot yearly since the year I almost died when I thought I didn't need it. If you have a long term illness that put's you at risk for pnumonia- I and physician's highly reccommend it. My spouse make's the choice to recieve the vaccine because if he doesn't he's putting me at risk and all his patient's as well. Hospital personnel can not be compelled to have vaccines!! So, remember this...they could be your point of exposure. My son has asthma (only a prOBlem now and then- not daily as a child) but I alway's have him to get the flu shot, as well as, this year H1N1 because his age range has the highest death rate. I also told him the shot only NOT the nasal spray which is the live virus and is a risker choice. About not recieving the vaccine without the Mercury. State your concern with your PCP and only allow the "non-mercury" containing. They'll be stunned you know and more than happy to OBlidge! Just a different view than I've noted so far so I felt the need to share. in Christ, His by Grace

I've never got a flu shot, and I've never got the flu. I work in a daycare and am exposed to the flu (both types this year) pretty often. I guess i just have a good immune system. My husband works at a hospital and he gets the regular (not swine) flu shot most years and he's got the flu a few times anyway. My 18 year old son has never had a flu shot or the flu. We've had 2 people in our community that had SEVERE reactions to the regular flu shot. They had stroke like symptoms and still have many prOBlems from it and it's been years since this happened. One still can't walk without a cane. I don't get any shots that aren't required.

Using Dietary Supplements Wisely

If you are taking a dietary supplement, read the label instructions. Talk to your health care provider if you have any questions, particularly about the best dosage for you to take. If you experience any side effects that concern you, stop taking the dietary supplement, and contact your health care provider. You can also report your experience to the FDA's MedWatch program. Consumer safety reports on dietary supplements are an important source of information for the FDA.

Keep in mind that although many dietary supplements (and some prescription drugs) come from natural sources, "natural" does not always mean "safe." For example, the herbs comfrey and kava can cause serious harm to the liver. Also, a manufacturer's use of the term "standardized" (or "verified" or "certified") does not necessarily guarantee product quality or consistency.

Be aware that an herbal supplement may contain dozens of compounds and that its active ingredients may not be known. Researchers are studying many of these products in an effort to identify active ingredients and understand their effects in the body. Also consider the possibility that what's on the label may not be what's in the bottle. Analyses of dietary supplements sometimes find differences between labeled and actual ingredients. For example:
An herbal supplement may not contain the correct plant species.
The amount of the active ingredient may be lower or higher than the label states. That means you may be taking less

Very true, Jerry8. People need to take the time to research what they put in their bodies -whether it's supplements, antibiotics, vaccines, etc.

Right, but I fear they be many who are buying will bottle of what is called natural stuff and swallowing them every day, yet what is going into their body is not what they think it is, and some thing are going into their body that they don't know about.

What we don't know can harm and even kill us. That is why I posted that article.

Just saw today they had to recall a bunch of pediatric doses of H1N1 due to lack of potency.

I don't get any flu shots nor do I give them to our kids. If any of us have ever gotten the flu, it was not severe enough to realize that's what we had.

I believe in vaccinating but I don't believe in vaccinating for every little germ....but I'm thankful for the vaccines against deadly diseases that generations before lived in fear of.

That's for kids under 3 years old. But anyway, he got his swine flu shot from his allergist, no prOBlem whatsoever.

The other day, he was going to get his regular seasonal flu shots, but they had to test him for flu vaccine allergy ( this vaccine must be made differently from swine flu vaccine) I think they test for egg allergy and other ingredients from vaccinations.

Well, the allergy reaction to eggs was bigger than a quarter (the welt but the redness was bigger) and she told us he could not get the season flu shot. And he was on zyrtex when they tested him. who knows what would have happened if he wasn't on allergy medicine, but then again she didn't tell us to take him off of allergy medicine. BUT they can break it down to smaller portions. So that's what they did. He seem ok so far even though he got cranky a day later for two days now. I think he just don't feel good because his body is producing antibodies.
