I've always wondered how Christians organize their daily activities. I don't understand how can a person fit work, prayer, Bible reading, study and memorization, cooking, raising children (especially women), cleaning and other similar tasks, all in one day. I know that daily prayer and Bible reading are essential, but studying is also very important. All these activities take significant time. I hope this thread will turn out well. Please delete the other one.

Do you know anything about the Community Christian Fellowship? I googled it (several in several states) went to their web page and looked over their statement of faith (We Believe) and at a glance it appears OK. But they have a "mysterious" membership method, "Discover" and "S.H.A.P.E." that isn't disclosed? Also, I googled "Women of Purpose Fall Retreat" which was mentioned under CCF "Ministries" but, I refer to our ladies for comment on this.

Anyone notice that forums overall seem to be slowing down for the most part? I thought about why, and I think its because of Facebook and other networking sites. Forums are becoming less needed for fellowship I guess. I only visit one forum that is still as active as it ever was and that's a cake forum but its the biggest cake decorating site on the net.... otherwise seems like most forums are slowing down. Just an OBservation.

I got laid off today from my jOB. God is still in control, now that I don't have a jOB I am hoping to talk my parents into letting me go to school in the Spring.

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light, I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight. My wife was asleep, her head on my chest, My daughter beside me, angelic in rest. Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white, Transforming the yard to a winter delight. The sparkling lights in the tree I believe, Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve. My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep, Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep. In perfect contentment, or so it would seem, So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream. The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near, But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear. Perhaps just a cough, …

Anyone else take advantage of online shopping? I like it because then I don't have to drag all the kids out from store to store. Of course, when I do get out to a store besides Wal-mart, I wish I had more time to look around.

Recently my mom was fired from her jOB due to another employee. I invited this person to church a month before it happened. I also gave her a copy of Fireproof to watch with her husband. She came to work on Thursday saying the movie really touched her. She wanted to come to church. The follwing day I invited her and her family to my house for for lunch after church so she would feel welcome at the church. This morning I was confronted by another employee who is a friend of my moms who couldn't believe I would do such a thing. My mother also hung up on me. Am I in the wrong? Should I not be civil to this person and invite her to church where she and her family will hear th…

Saw this ad on Facebook earlier today. Does this mean that they are saying that is a child in the womb? Because if they are calling her mom doesn't that make this a child?? You know a living human being...hmm...

I just finished Less Than Zero by Bret Easton Ellis. The book is kind of old (late 1980's I think) and was made into a movie in the early 90's (haven't seen movie, heard it is vastly different from the book). Although I didn't care for a lot of the content (drug use, promiscuity), I thought the theme was oustanding for a young man of Ellis' age (he wrote it when he was only 19). It's about how the materialism and commercialism that has become increasingly rampant since the early 1980's has affected our youth, in addition to how we (my own generation included) have become desensitized. The main character's parents are divorced, have little to no time for him, and are o…

I am considering (and most of all, praying about) adopting an infant from Uganda. Are there any parents here at OB who have adopted (or are familiar with the process) that can give me their prespective? Thanks in advance.

I did this several years ago for a contest. They're just as fun now as they were then. See if you can guess which Christmas songs are being represented in the pictures: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.
