The summit that OBama had today? Do you think he was sincere about coming together with republicans, or do you think he was trying to put them in a bad light before cramming the health bill on America.

I have bumper stickers, magnets, and emblems on my vehicles, I have several t-shirts with "Christian" themes, and I try to live by example. I am basically too shy to approach total stangers for anything but I do witness to acquaintances. I don't were crosses but often carry a dogtag with "Christian" on it. Wayne

After years and years of having my Grandmothers broken Victrola boxed up I finally got it out, bought repair parts, and have it working again. It was mfg in 1915. The fun thing is all the records I've got. I just came across "IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL" and the record carries a date of 1907. I can't wait to break this out next "old fashioned Sunday"! I've got dozens of other records to go thu... this is fun! Anyone else got an old Victrola? . .

Some of you have already added yourself to the OB Usermap, I think it will be neat to see where our members are from. Link is in the top menu. I do not recommend that you put your exact location down. In fact, I just put Connecticut (and no, not everyone from Ct is rich ) instead of my address. http://onlinebaptist.com/messageboards/usermap.php

Australia, Kuwait, Jordan secure Asian Cup spots

Australia qualified for the 2011 Asian Cup finals with a 1-0 defeat of Indonesia on Wednesday, while Kuwait and Jordan snatched the last berths at the tournament on the final day of qualifying.Pim Verbeek's Socceroos dominated possession for long periods of their game in Brisbane but it was a solitary goal from defender Mark Milligan in the 42nd minute that wrapped up all three points. Australia topped Group A with three wins, two draws and a defeat to their name, while Indonesia finished rock bottom on three points."I can only be happy with the result, but of course we would have been happier if we had scored more goals," said Verbeek. But we had so many chances. We sh…

The Yellow Handkerchief

The Yellow Handkerchief A Fantastic Movie I am starting to dislike films that sell themselves with the tagline: "Love is where you least expect it." Isn't it about time we retire that line? Yellow Handkerchief arrives as yet another indie road flick featuring characters very different from one another on the outside, but similar on the inside. It's pretty to watch (thanks to great camerawork from Chris Menges), but the film never really soars above "That was a nice moment," and into must-see territory. However, superb performances from the four leads lend Handkerchief enough charm to leave those watching with a smile ... and an odd desire to visit Louisiana. William Hu…

Perhaps the reason so many are dying from cancer is because of our government experimenting with nuclear weapons. Yes, I know they blame it on many other things. But to be honest our government has not took care of us, but experimented with us and our own men in uniform. Our country is not near as good and great as it claims to be. Its being and has run by sinful men who did not mind the least bit to experiment with their own countrymen putting them at grace risk. What got me to thinking about this at present time is I've got a friend who served in Vietnam as a soldier in our Army who is not fighting for his life from cancer brought on because of expos

About the 2nd month of 2009 my house insurance had got up to about $328.00 every 3 months. I went and talked with my agent, changed the deductible, got it down to about $299.00 every 3 months. 3 months later it was $314.01, 3 months later it was $323.00, the latest on is $379.00. Car insurance has increased a bit, but not near as much as house insurance. There has been no claims. Anyone else have this prOBlem. I think its way to much increase and not the least bit reasonable. What is you opinion? I placed a note in with my payment, saying, I'm insurance hunting, when I get my next bill if my insurance has not gone way down, if I've found cheaper insurance, and I ful…

Howdy y'all! About two weeks ago my old computer finally died. I couldn't even enter safe mode to try and effect some fix. Oh but God is so good! Last Wednesday, after a bout with the flu, I was talking with my pastor and I mentioned that my computer had died right before the flu really hit me hard and I felt like I might die for a couple of days. My pastor asked about my computer and I told him it was finished. He then told me he knew where I could get a computer. I said, "really...". He opened up his office door and we walked in and there was a computer on the floor. My pastor had just replaced his office computer and was looking to get rid of the old one so he t…

has anyone else seen this? I received it in my email. The man that sent it often sends things that he receives without checking it out to see if it is factual. Here it is, do what you think is best. Vote and see what your fellow Americans say.......... > > > > OBama's new Attorney General, Eric Holder, has already said this is one of his major issues. He does not believe the 2nd Amendment gives individuals the right to bear arms. This takes literally 2 clicks to complete. Please vote on this gun issue question with USA Today. It will only take a few seconds of your time. Then pass the link on to all the pro gun folks you know. Hopefully the…

Week 1: Matthew Henry edges out H.A. Ironside Last week Matthew Henry edged out HA Ironside by one vote. We'll pit Henry against another winner at a later time. This week we have John R Rice (Sword of the Lord) competing with John Walvoord Reminder: We are comparing their written works as useful commentary for the Independent Baptist (not their life's work.) Poll closes on Tues. Sept 22.

http://www.thepathofthewindmovie.com/ This movie, a Christian one, is coming on TBN (yes, I know TBN is messed up, but good stuff still sometimes comes on their channels) Tuesday. It looks very interesting (it's a new film), and I was wondering if any of you have seen it, and what you thought of it if you have. Thank you, and God bless, Joel.

I do not think we have had this discussion on this board (or if we did it was a really really long time ago!) So what are your views on gambling, and why do you believe as you do? I posted this in the IFB forum but since I have not gotten any comments I thought I would try again in the general forum. I am genuinely interested in your responses to this question.

I have never heard from the pulpit What is this "follish talking, and why do we not preach more about it? (as far as I can remember, which may not be much!) a mention of "foolish talking" or "Jesting" as mentioned in Eph. 5:4. What do you folks suppose that refers to? I have an opinion, but it is only an opinion, and we all know what persoanl opinion is worth! That is the only time jesting is mentioned in the Bible, so there is not much to cross-referance. so, what is "foolish talking" and "jesting" and why don't we hear preaching bout it?

I feel sure most of you have heard people say, that's a funeral song, the only place you will hear it is at a funeral. One person made such a statement to me not long back, I replied, "If you would attend church with me for a few Sundays, you would hear these songs, for these songs you call funeral songs are regularly sang in our church." To me when anyone makes such a statement, I instantly know they do not attend church, at least not in a church that plays godly hymns.

Hello I been under the weather the passed several months and laying low. Plus I could not take the political debates anymore in some areas of the net. I came back because I needed to check something on my email by you guys. Just keep me in prayers I am getting another tooth yanked. I just want to take it slow here. I just wanted to come on and state I am ok and I am living and breathing. I dropped out because I was stressed However I should not read what I find stressing. I am going to avoid the current event area for awhile until I am strong in the Lord. Karrie

(copied from my face-book page) You may think from the title of this that this is a note about police, jail, and other such things - it is not. We went to New Hope Baptist Church on Sunday morning in order to see some friends of ours. As things would have it, we only got to see them for just a few minutes. The Lord brought us there for a different reason. Pastor Douglas' message about children convicted me - REALLY convicted me. There were a few points in his message, but I did not write them down. Instead, I wrote down some of the phrases he used in his message and asked myself some questions. I would love to share this with you all in hopes that you will pray f…
