Song from the Past

I have been searching the internet for songs by a man who is now with the Lord. He was referred to as Singing Sam Rayburn (not sure about the spelling on the last name ). He sang at the Southwide Baptist Fellowship back in '73 or '74 and died a short time after that. If you know anything about him please let me know. I would like to find some of his albums.

One of our church members attended a funeral service yesterday afternoon, they had the choir from our local Mennoite Chruch, they sang the song, "When We All Get To Heaven," but they sang, "When All The Saved Get To Heaven. I never really gave it no thought, but that song is not scriptural sang as written, unless only saved people are singing it. Had you ever given thought to this?

Songs From My Journey About one and a half years ago, I stumbled across a wonderful songwriter and poet named Deborah Bolack. The lyrics of her songs and the devotional book she put together have been such a blessing to me. The songs that she has recorded and her visitors can listen to on her blog have been beautiful and edifying. But this year she has blessed me more than I could have ever imagined - twice! She composed music for two of my songs (one in June, and one just a few weeks ago). I cannot read music, so had no clue how wonderful the music she made was - until I got to hear both songs played at the Gospel Mission where I work. My heart was touched and a long…

Music that pleases the flesh is ok . . . But what about other forms of entertainment? 1 2

Okay, let me start by saying that I do not listen to worldly music, nor do I approve of it (rock, soft rock, country, rap, hip-hop, r&b, etc). However, I won't lie, and I will admit that the whole "good music, bad music" really, really confuses me. And I have a hard time explaining my stance to friends and family, which leaves me feeling very silly. The only thing I can say for certain, is that "God gave me a conviction to stay away from that music." Which is a good reason!! But at the same time, how do you explain it to someone who doesn't understand? One arguement which I always seem to hear/read, is that worldly music pleases the flesh. It's all about the flesh. …

Recently, I have been thinking about how the Lord has enabled me to care for the clients at Kelowna's Gospel Mission. Saying, "I love you" to anyone other than my immediate family has always been extremely hard for me due to physical and mental abuse in my past. Though I may have a hard time saying it verbally, I know that I love the clients here - because this is where my heart is, where I put my time and many times my treasures. Because Of Jesus Chorus: Because of Jesus, I know that I love you. Because of Jesus, I want the best for you. He did a work within my heart; His love to me He did impart. I love you - because of Jesus. When I was lost and all alone, Je…

Sis Deborah intrigued me with a recent post on her blog, and the thought of an intense look at the Saviour is what led to this poem. I hope it is a blessing to you. Just One Look Just one look to Jesus will bring healing to the soul; Just one look to Heaven and the heart will be made whole; Just one moment to see Him - just one glimpse of Him today; Falling in love with Jesus is only just one look away. One look away from the world, one look away from your sin, One look away from your idols - looking only unto Him; Just one look towards the Saviour, one turn away from the past, One heart reaching towards Jesus, looking only to Him at last. Just one look to Je…

Why Trouble The Master? Jairus' daughter lay dying, but Jesus was near; He sought the Saviour for his loved one so dear. Before the journey ended, his daughter had died; The crowd now grew restless and someone soon cried, "Why trouble the Master? Your daughter is gone. There is no more hope here, for she has passed on." Why trouble the Master, the Saviour of men? When it seems all is lost, marred and scarred by sin, He offers new beginnings, forgiveness, and grace; Jesus loves you so much, He died in your place. A fountain for cleansing, power from on high, A reason for living

5 year old, Caleb Goolsby sings as I accompany him with guitar. He's singing......."God's Little People". His mother and dad are so proud of him. He's such a blessing to our church. PreacherE and his wife Kendrajoy play a big part in Caleb's discipleship. With this talent at such a young age is God given.

For anyone who has heard this song, is it CCM? It would not be considered Christian Rock would it?

My church has a strong conviction against CCM and worldly music. We use our hymn book during worship service, so most of the Christian songs I know is only what is found on our hymn book. I am just wondering if there is such a thing as Christian love songs or all songs should only be for the Saviour. If there is, can you tell me the title or can you post the lyrics? Lastly, if you are married what was your wedding song?.. I'm just curious. God Bless you all. Jeny

Mountain Creek Harmony is a great Christian trio who sing for the glory of God here in North Carolina. They have a great Christian testimony and sing for the Lord. Jesus Christ is coming very soon!

In a former post that was properly closed by Bro. Matt, a fellow said: Can I be transparent here? I do too, that is, the old Ben, that God snatched out of the burning trash heap! My flesh likes all kinds of stuff, but the problem is if I am going to be a disciple of Christ then music, like many other areas of life has to be subject to discipline. War Eagle, if you are still here, you need, just like I did, and still do, have to ask the Lord to grow me and be willing to submit to the Holy Spirit of God as he reveals things to me, and music is one of these areas. I know and understand the arguement, "All music was once new." And, this is true, however, all …

Our Pastor asked us last night at church who was writing Hymns, good solid childrens books, poetry etc today??? Where are all the down the line bible believing people willing to step us and provide our children with these things. We talk about the greats in years gone by such as Fanny Crosby etc who supplied us with amazing hymns poetry etc. So I ask you do you know of current people writing recording such things???

Would you consider this style of music to be something the Scriptures forbid? (Strictly acoustic guitar played to an old fiddle tune) [tube]szd7r_Gib4c[/tube]

I especially love verse 3... CHILDREN OF THE HEAVENLY FATHER Children of the heav?nly Father Safely in His bosom gather; Nestling bird nor star in Heaven Such a refuge e?er was given. God His own doth tend and nourish; In His holy courts they flourish; From all evil things He spares them; In His mighty arms He bears them. Neither life nor death shall ever From the Lord His children sever; Unto them His grace He showeth, And their sorrows all He knoweth. Though He giveth or He taketh, God His children ne?er forsaketh; His the loving purpose solely To preserve them pure and holy. Lo, their very hairs He numbers, And no daily care encumbers Them t…

Hi everyone. What is so wrong with Christian Contemporary Music and Christian Rock? I listen to both on a regular basis. I guess I just don't understand why Christian Rock and Christian Contemporary Music is frowned upon at this board.

I like heavy rock. Is it a sin to listen to it? My favourite bands are Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. I think all the devil worship stuff is just a gimmick. What do you think?
