The following is from a newsletter I was emailed from Lighthouse Trails: The Message "Bible" Omits "Lord Jesus" The King James Bible refers to Jesus as "Lord Jesus" about 115 times. The New King James Bible uses this term about the same amount of times and the New American Standard about 100 times. How many times does Eugene Peterson's The Message use the phrase "Lord Jesus"? Does anybody know about the New Scofield Study Bible (1967)? I have one, but I also have the 1917 Old Scofield Study Bible. Been trying to figure out what is "new" in the 1967 edition. I see it has a larger concordance and more maps and study helps, but is it different in the notes of the 1917 edition? Of course, I have the KJV--but the New Scofield comes in the NIV and NASB too. Were C.I.Scofield's notes changed?

I was listening to Dr. J. Vernon McGee on the radio and I heard him explain what Verbal Plenary Inspiration was. I heard him say that the words are inspired. I thought he said that the ideas were not inspired but just that the words were. I thought about it and the NIV is a thought for thought translation (and some say an interpretation) and not a word for word translation. I don't want to penalize someone from getting edification if they can find it in a Bible but it leaves me wondering...

In Sunday School we're studying Moses and the children of Israel. We are at the part where Aaron has made the golden calf and God has told Moses to go back down to the camp because the people had sinned (Exodus 32). My SS literature says that Aaron knew the first two commandments. One of my students asked how he knew if Moses had not come down with the tables of stone yet. I'm ashamed to say that I could not clearly answer this child's question....while Aaron should have known by all that his conscience told him, and I'm sure he knew it was wrong to make an idol.... Hey yall, Please don't be mad at me for posting this on this forum (slightly off topic)...but I'm getting my Cambridge Wide Margin Concord in the mail tomorrow, hopefully. What kind of pen should I use to underline in it? Would a regular ol' black ballpoint work or do i need something different to work better with the Cambridge's paper? Thanks! P.S. Anyone read James R. White's new book and have any comments? Here's what way of life says: Division is caused by those who leave a once held position. Since the King James Bible was the Bible commonly used in most Bible-believing churches for most of the 18th, 19th, and early 20th century, its defenders are not the ones who left a once held position. Don't know how interesting this is to anyone, but I thought it to be noteworthy. The University of Manitoba has had in it's posession an old King James Bible for a number of years, but after much diligent study, they have found it to be a first edition, and according to notes in the Bible, appears to have been used by King James himself. I don't worship the Bible, I worship God who wrote it, but I think it would be interesting to flip through it. Ok folks no dought the niv takes away from the word of God but what are some of the Serious Doctrinal changes in the Nkjv most people seem to think the nkjv is the same as the kjv except a few changes such as thee,s thou,s thine ye and etc .

Did you know that the KJV text reads at 5th grade level? When you subject the new versions and the King James Version to the Flesch-Kincaid grade level formula, you discover that the King James Version is fifth grade level; the NKJV and the NAS are sixth grade level; Good News for Modern Man is seventh grade level; and the NIV is eight grade level. Many years ago I came across a sermon an IB preacher named Gary Dice when he visited Australia, and from memory he was preaching on this passage, or at least referencing it. He sang a slightly silly song about this section of Romans 7, but I have never been able to find any reference to it anywhere else. I would appreciate it if anyone has heard of it and could give me a reference or link to it, or best case, the sheet music. I know there are many songs that come up when you do a google search, but none of them have been the one I am looking for. It has the words almost direct from the KJV, not just something loosely based on that text. Thanks folks. -

I also noticed he seems quieter, perhaps more humble this time. But even last time I had come to view his particular tendency to boast as just having an immensely positive attitude. He's also careful to thank others and to offer credit where credit is due, while having no compunctions about calling out anyone who deserves none. -

Just to clarify on the repenting God did when Israel turned from their evil ways. The thing here is that their turning from evil ways here is called... works. So since salvation isnt by works ..and turning from evils ways IS works.. hence the issue with repent meaning 'turn from sin'. So there is what I was meaning. -

Thankfully the pastors I know NEVER STOPPED preaching the gospel. Remember, TGL, they're to preach the whole counsel of God, not just salvation messages. And just to be clear, preaching messages that promote conservative, Biblical values is imperative. Maybe one should let the Holy Spirit guide in what these pastors preach, eh?
