It's sad to see folks who have given their all to their job for 40 years and then retire or be let go with no real appreciation. Then they and their years of hard work are quickly forgotten.

In the meantime, many of these hard workers have sacrificed their families for their jobs. Their marriages suffered, their children didn't receive the instruction and guidance they needed.

For those who are lost, they have nothing. For those who are saved, many of us, probably most, will be shocked to realize just how much of our lives we wasted on that which is trivial while neglecting to be about what we should have been.

True enough, there are matters we must all address in our lives that are not of great importance but we need to be careful not to allow these things to keep us from what's truly important.

Agree with that!

Near us there used to be a textile plant that employed about 400 people. Built in the 30's or so, it was a massive construction with thick brick walls, REAL hardwood floors, and other construction details that can't be duplicated today.

Think about the efforts made to build and operate that plant. Along with the wants of those who had it built and those who worked there. Concluding with the wants and efforts of those who turned that location into a weed filled empty lot decorated with a for sale sign. Sure, it served it's purpose, for a time. But, only for a time.

One of my regrets, often stated these days, is the time I wasted while I was away from the church. That includes all the Sunday mornings spent at work or sleeping late when I didn't have/want to work. (I had some choice in the matter.) Also includes time spent with hobbies and such, that lasted for awhile, until my interest in them waned for some reason. So many things with investments of time and money that are now like that weed filled lot.

I can't tell you how thankful I am that the Lord called us back into a physcial church where we are finally doing what He saved us to do, many years ago. It's no longer important that the back 40 gets mowed every week. (We live in the country on 3 acres, where we kept much of it mowed like a golf course.) So many things are like that in our lives today. Sometimes it's amazing when I think about "wants" we had that have disappeared over the last two years.

I might add this is something I've had major problems with, & still deal with, & I believe many other Christians do as well. With that said, I feel that many never realize how selfish they are, always doing for self, & sharing little of their life with Christ except for maybe attending church services.

I did get to feeling good enough to mow today (using a rider mower). I'll have to trim that hedge another day.

That's good, at least. Let us know if you find anything out.

Sorry I haven't been around as much lately. :) How y'all doing?
God bless,

I found Fels Napha laundry bar soap today at WalMart!! And, also found Arm & Hammer Washing Soda there, too. I've been searching for a local source of the soap for a while, with no luck. The nearest store that stocked washing soda recently closed.

Fels is one of the recipe ingredients for homemade laundry detergent. Bar soap is used with washboards and tubs.
Washing soda is in the solution used for electrolysis to remove rust from castiron cookware.

It's a blessing when the unexpected appears where it's least expected.

I still remember when we made lye soap in the old cast iron pot out in the back yard, & used it when bathing.

Its guaranteed to clean your skin leaving it a pink color.

I've still got several ideas, & can post more than a period, yet I have not posted bear as much as John. :umno:

I like it to, no specif topic. Never have no idea what the next person will bring up, for instants since John brought up hawk.

Last year for the 1st time we had a pair of hawks bothering our purple martins, they're back this year.

I bought myself a new 22, a leaver action Henry, sure do like it, it sure does shoot good. I just might get rid of a hawk if they pester my purple martins to much.

Hmm ... at the risk of being the newbie and being laughed right off this board, here goes ...

I think this post started in 2004 ... so is there still a contest?! : )

If so, and I'm the last poster, what's the prize? I'm getting a little excited here as I see posts re: 22s ... what about a Glock 45?! I use my husband's! My just turned 10yo daughter is a pretty good shot with a 410 and 22.

Since it appears to be random here, I guess I'll go in the direction of CCW ... our church has a few cops/sheriffs (two that offer CCW training in neighboring county) and this past summer the church offered for free classes to church members to become certified. All we had to do after training was pay the fee to get the license! I still find it interesting when people ask where we received our training and our reply is church. After a pause, we are asked what kind of church, and it seems to be even more stunning when we reply I.F. Baptists. I have actually had some people stare at me for a moment while trying to decide if I'm pulling their leg or not. This is usually a nice ice-breaker and I go for it! : )

BTW - not many pesky varmits around here much anymore, of course we live in the city limits ...

In Him ~
Sandi
