RTS's are the only really addictive games IMHO. I usually finish an FPS the first day I get it, and may play it through a few more times just to see if I missed anything cool.

With a RTS's gameplay is basically never ending. A typical AoE2 Random Map game lasts me 6 hours, I don't think I've ever played the single player. Rise of Nations has a good Single Player to it, the 'Conquer the World' SP is fun to play, and I have gone through it many times, though out of all my RTS's I still play AoE2 the most.

If you like FPS games, but prefer the unpredictability of RTS, then you should try Joint Ops: Typhoon Rising and Escalation. It is integrated FPS with RTS when played correctly. I still enjoy playing it.

Oh, and one way to get around the "addiction downer" that was presented earlier is to do like I do and play on your lunch break at work if you can. That way you are restricted to a set amount of time and it doesn't eat into the time set aside for things more important and less entertaining than gaming.

wait, wait, wait....

some of these games ya'll are mentioning have magic and witchcraft in them...

AoE2, someone said they had Age of Mythology, Warcraft 3, Runescape etc...

these cant be the same people who dog on "Shrek" for having magic in it, can they?

Actually it was only one guy who played Age of Mythology and Warcraft and one who plays Runescape. I agree, they have witchcraft in them and a Christian shouldn't have anything to do with them.

I am an RTS player. I am most famous for my work on EE AOC heading up a clan of eco rushing super boomers. Still talk to many old clan mates, waiting on another good RTS to get us all back into it, none of em really are good enough.

As bad a time waster as games can be though, I know of a couple dozen people going to heaven now because I witnessed to some of my first members, and as new members would join, soon we'd be sitting in a game just to chat and the subject of heaven would come up.

The only time online games have ever kept me up past when I should of gone to bed, is when the game leads to explaining the bible to someone. I still get yelled at by people when they find out I play video games, but I can't go soul winning at 10pm, and I do a ton of reading during the day and I'm burnt out. I bet they watch more T.v. then I spend hitting hot keys

I play Guild Wars. Dont know if anyone else on here does. Its very similiar to World Of Warcraft. Only difference is, you DO NOT have to pay a monthly fee. Once you buy the game, thats it. Thats what draws a lot of people to it. Plus it already has two exspansion packs and a third on the way.
