My Ryrie Study Bible was my main Bible during the late '80s and over half of the '90s. I keep that Bible now because of all my markings in it. However, I rarely use that one anymore.

I have a nice "Thru the Bible Radio" Bible that I like to read because of the larger print and it has no notes among the text.

Well, seeing as we are talking about Study Bibles. Has anyone read or seen The Defender's Study Bible, put out by Henry Morris? I saw it yesterday and it looked really good. I know in his books he sometimes corrects the KJV, but it looks like this study Bible might be worthwhile - as a resource, like a commentary.

I agree with Brother Anderson on this one! Correcting the Bible with the Greek is wrong! :thumb

Brother Jerry,, I just happen to have one, mine is the older version, and I must say has been a VERY good quality Bible, 10 years of rough use. I do disagree with Dr. Morris on a couple things, as you say, they just happen to be where he disagrees with the Bible. But thats only in a couple places, and they are right in the Introduction. I have never seen a study Bible with perfect commentary. I do highly recommend this study Bible. I will take mine to Church tomorrow and I woop it out here at home all the time, it sure takes a beating. :coffee :java:

I know this Steve Anderson guy that wrote the article. He's not a Ruckmanite...he's like a cult of his own. He's a guy that went to my church for a long time (he got saved in my church), and somehow got twisted into some weird doctrines of his own after he graduated from Hyles-Anderson. He believes repentance is not necessary for salvation and claims to worship the KJV. He's a dangerous guy, and he trolls around on the internet and makes a bad name for KJVO people.

I'm going to have to resist the urge to add a couple carefully placed quotation marks in that last post. :saint :saint :hehe:

Yes, KJB Princess - Steven Anderson is bad news. He was my sister's pastor last year. What you said about him is exactly true - which anyone can verify from his online sermons and articles. He believes his Bible IS Jesus. He is also seriously off on endtimes doctrine and some other areas. He rejects all the oldtime fundamentalists of the faith - including Spurgeon and many other sound Baptist preachers and commentators - because they teach and preach the necessity of repentance from SINS (Anderson believes in repentance only from unbelief). Because of this pastor's wacky views and trying to buy my brother in law's devotion, he caused temporary damage to my sister's marriage.

How could he have gotten saved if he didn't repent?

I do not know his testimony of salvation - but I do know he has wacky theology now, and waters down his soulwinning to get more converts and baptisms. Perhaps at his point of conversion, he believed the truth and did repent and believe - then later got confused and off track on this issue - or perhaps he never believed the truth in regards to repentance. However, I truly do not know his testimony on this.

I think I ran into one of his followers on another list. He was spouting off about the KJV was somehow more accurate that the texts it came from! :? Eventually, the name of Ruckman showed up as someone he was quoting to back up his position.

Interestingly, or worriedly, there were at least three other people that there that seemed to agree with him. :(

I am not getting involved in this discussion in order to defend Dr Ruckman or so called 'Ruckmanites', however, I would suggest that you check out what Dr Ruckman actually says about correcting the 'original' manuscripts with the KJB instead of believing what other people think he believes or has said.

It is interesting to note that the Professor of Linguistics at Princeton University taught that the KJB corrected the 'original' Hebrew and greek manuscripts.

Why interesting, because this was in the 1930's. So this Professor was a 'Ruckmanite' even before Ruckman was born. Go figure??????

A man by the name of James White wrote a book called 'The King James Only Controversy' attacking those who are KJBO believer's and in particular Dr Ruckman, misquoting him and taking what he said out of context.

Bro. Cloud has also done this in some of his articles condemning Dr Ruckman.

I believe, after reading his works for myself, that Dr Ruckman is one of, if not the greatest defenders of the KJB in the 20th and 21st centuries.

I have also seen video of him debating a Catholic apologist where I actually felt sorry for the apologist because he was unable to answer Ruckman's superior and thorough knowledge of the Bible.

I have also watched a video series on evolution where he completely demolishes the theory by simply using logic and science.

I have also watched very rare footage from the 1950's of a series of TV programmes which aired in Florida where he does a tremendous job of preaching the gospel using the Law just like our neo-evangelical friend Ray Comfort.

So if you want to add me to the list of the three 'Ruckmanites' on another board then count me in.

I would rather be associated with a man who believes that the KJB is the FINAL AUTHORITY on EVERYTHING including what colour and make of car you should buy, than someone who only says but doesn't believe the KJB is the final authority.

Doc H 'a Bible (KJBO) believing Christian' or a 'Ruckmanite' whatever your definition of one maybe.

I don't know what Dr. Ruckman does or does not preach. Someone the other day was kind enough to send me some links so that I can study up on Dr. Ruckman from what he himself has put forth. When I have the time, I will give this matter some attention.

I believe Cloud quotes him directly if I am not mistaken. It seems Ruckman has much the same attitude of most of his followers; one of arrogance and contempt for others and their beliefs. He also uses language that is not at all befitting a Christian.

Two things:

1. I'm not sure why Ruckman supporters keep throwing out there that we need to actually read what Ruckman believes instead of listening to someone else. You know what? Some of us HAVE actually read what Ruckman believes. :wink

2. What chapter and verse did you use for make and color the last time you bought a vehicle? Acts 2:1? :cool
