It is just paper. I am not saying to do that, but I am saying it is no different than destroying ANY other book. I have destroyed MVs, just as I have ripped up and destroyed any books I had that contained false teachings or contradicted the Word of God.

AMEN, :thumb

For the very same reason that I say burn all of those MVs. Never in a million years would I burn a KJV that had worn out on me, and I have had many do that. Even though my KJV is only ink and paper, I would not allow it to pass thru the fire. I'll bury it, but not burn it.

If I was going to do anything, I would just throw it away. I would never use it as Janet described. Not only is that uncouth, but it is disgracing the Word of God, no matter how little of it it might contain.

And the Watchtower is a newsletter, it is not a Bible. And even if they left them in my mailbox, I would throw them away, not rip them up, burn them, and most certainly not use them as toilet paper. :eek

I personally do not throw away corrupt reading material (or anything else that is corrupt, such as rock music cds, bad movies, etc.). Someone can find them in the garbage and still be affected by it. If it is destroyed, its bad influence is gone.

Exactly right, Jerry. :thumb

For the very same reason that we do not just pull up weeds in the garden and then drop them in the rows. They can take root and start all over again. Instead, we grind them up with the lawn mower and put the "shreddings" into the compost bin to be converted to rich black humus. :lol

Ah but then we can go back to the question of "can a person be saved reading a modern version?" :wink
I believe that they can.

??? A person can be saved by reading corrupt Christian material, maybe even by reading cult literature - even they read just the verses or flipped through it and somehow overlooked the wrong in it, and the Holy Spirit filled in the blanks in their understanding - but does that justify or excuse the use and preservation of them? Maybe there might be enough Gospel in one of Billy Graham's books or magazines to bring someone to Christ - but the rest is so watered down and ecumenical, it is like feeding them poison - it does more harm than good in the long run to use that material.

I'm not saying they are good to use. I'm only saying that I don't think that they should be burned and most certainly never used as toilet paper. But oh well, maybe that is just me. :dunno:

I'm not saying they should be used as toilet paper. One thing you might find interesting - the Jewish priests and scribes who copied the OT text, as authorized by God, burned copies that they made that had mistakes in them - then after copying from their copies, they would actually burn the copies. What is important is the message, not the paper - and if the message is corrupt, why keep the paper or parchment it is on?

So all KJVs printed prior to Blayney's should be burned? I would hate to live as an English speaker during that period (1611-1769). With all the Bible burnings going on and sticking to a KJVO belief, there wouldn't be anything else to read from. :Bible:

Argumentum ad absurdum

We could look at it from the Bible if you like... "A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump." This would be true of the Word of God, Jesus Christ, if He had even a single spot or blemish. It is also true for the written word of God, the Scriptures, insumuch as, if they have a single spot or blemish, the whole lump is leavened.

Still, argumentum ad absurdum. I don't accept your premise, that a percentage of the majority of "modern translations" is 'poison' or 'sewage.' They may not contain the "best" translation, but they do contain perfectly(although not equally) valid translations in many instances. Merely because something is translated differently, it does not make it wrong, or 'poison.'

They cast doubt on the words of God when they remove verses and have footnotes saying they aren't in the "oldest and best" manuscripts.
In addition to removing Scripture, they certainly introduce heresy. Philippians 2:6 is a common one...Jesus couldn't grasp equality with God? Hmm... Sure seems like poison to me.

Ummmm...the verse doesn't say that in any modern translation that I'm aware of.

What does the verse about leaven refer to?
