Well, we have a lot of kid's birthdays happening around here. I thought we could share some pics of the cakes we have done for our kids.

Those cakes are great! I did cakes for my son when he was younger, and by far the favorite one of all of us was the accident. He was in a dinosaur stage, and wanted little candy dinosaurs all over the cake. I made chocolate, with chocolate icing to simulate mud, right? Well, when I took the cake out of the oven, a big chink of it stuck in the pan. Josh was very upset and figured there wouldn't be any cake for his party in a few hours. But he didn't figure on a desperate mommy! :lol I looked at that mess and thought "Flood!" So, I began to ice the cake as it was, mixing in some of the cake with the icing, and sticking the dinosaurs all over - some inside the "mud" and some partly sticking out, etc. We called it the flood cake. It was a big hit with the kids ("Wow! I never saw a flood cake!" :cool ), and Josh was thrilled that he had a cake on his 3rd birthday. Never made one like it since, but maybe if I have a little grandbaby some day.... :smile Unfortuantely, we didn't get a picture.

LuAnne that's great! My mom always taught us to try to make something out of a "mistake" but I think that's tops.

Cool!

We are homeschooling him. He just finished 1st grade (by age, he should be in K-5). We are not pushing him to get ahead, he is doing it on his own. You should see the books he reads! Sugar Creek Gang, biographies of famous people - Harriet Tubman, Albert Einstein (sp) - and others like this. He wants to learn, and is enjoying it.

He is even learning sign language and Brazilian Portuguese - so he can talk to Samuel Gilley.

Personally' date=' I'm kind of a simple fella. Bake me a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and I'm happy.[/quote']

That sounds good, but it is not fair to my family. :Bleh Nathaniel has peanut allergies, and I am now reacting the same way my son does if he has peanuts. My wife used to LOVE peanut butter, but we no longer get it due to the allergies.
