Hot and humid is the only thing the weather man has been saying and what he plans to say for the next several days. I think by the end of next week it's supposed to cool down a bit.

Cowboy, is it getting pretty dry up there? Most of the counties around here have put out burn bans just in the last few days, surprise they have not for our country, but I feel sure its coming very soon. I would not dare burn nothing as dry as the grass is.

I fear we may be in for a long dry August. The last few years it has not been to bad around here, most people have been getting 2 and many 3 cuttings of hay each year, we are over due for a long hot one with a shortage of hay.

Still 100.8

No it's not gotten real dry yet, we had several inches of rain Monday and Tuesday, that has driven the humidity way up though. We've had an unusually wet year this year, all the extra rain has ruined a lot of crops around here, we ended up only harvesting about 100 bushels of our wheat to have it tested then we turned the rest of it under after we got the tests back.

I've heard said that many of the big farmers likes it when its hot and dry, that way they can put the water on the crops when its needed, and come out with a much better crop.

It's been in the lower 70's in the mornings and upper 90's in the afternoons here.

Last night we had some pretty heavy storms just as our youth meeting was getting started and we didn't have all the power at church and the AC was out, so it was quite warm with the 150 or more that were packed into our building. It went great, though!!

103 right now, down from a high of 104. And we live in a mobile home. We have a steel, bolted-in, window fan in the boy's bedroom at the far end of the trailer pushing out at nighttime to force air through as quickly as possible. That's saved us hundreds of dollars each summer because we've been able to turn the airconditioner off at night. (here's the place we got it if anyone is interested http://www.rewci.com/20wholhouswi.html) We've had it about 5 years now and it still works well.

NW Ks 107 degrees - but it will be down around 70 this evening

Do you live in NW Kansas? If so, where? I am in Atwood. It has been hot and dry for the last several days. After tomorrow we are supposed to get some relief. The nights will be cooler too.

We are expecting a heat index of 105 tomorrow.

Scratch that, they just sent an updated email saying: "extreme heat on Monday with a daytime high of 98 with a heat index nearing 110 in the afternoon hours"
