I just can't get into the Olympics this year. I guess I'm not a huge fan anyway, but I'm so irritated they are having this in China. The place that hosts the Olympics should be a place that models what the free world and what Olympics is all about. I think the only reason half the countries are even participating is because they don't want China mad.

Did you see that about those Americans wearing face masks due to pollution? That was funny...too bad they apologized.

The Olympics is about athletics. Ancient Greece was not a paragon of freedom.

The Olympics have been held in Nazi Germany and Communist Soviet Russia. The fact they are in China this year is nothing out of the ordinary.

I would much prefer there was a way for the Olympics to be as solely focused upon athletics as possible but that's not going to happen in this fallen world. Politics and international intrigue will always have their part in it.

Myself, I'm not really interested in the Olympics this year either, but that's just my personal view I suppose.

I haven't been able to get into it either. The facts it's in China probably has something to do with it...and the fact that I've been a little more busy than I was before I got married. Winter Olympics are usually more fun anyways. I'll still try to catch some of the swimming though probably.

The thing about olympics is that I like the stuff where they hardly have any clothes on, so that means we cannot watch it together. Since my husband likes tv more than I do, it doesn't make sense for me to sit there watching it alone, so I just don't watch. (I enjoy women's gymnastics and figure skating--that one winter of course-- sports that really guys should not watch.)

Pretty much the same thing as the Olympics but only Commonwealth countries take part. As there's fewer big, rich countries in it, you tend to see more smaller countries and less well-known athletes winning stuff and the results are less predictable--i.e. the Russians winning all the gymnastics and the US winning all the track and field events.

They do sound more interesting. I am not a big fan of competitive sports. I like baseball once in a while, but that's about it. If we watched somthing like this, I would bring a book along... :Green

I only watch Swimming and Diving and anything in the water and some Gymnastics. However I turned it on after our revival night tonight to see what was going on with it. They had some sport that these woman were in really skimpy outfits and red and I forgot what it was.

And you think the United States deserves to host the games anymore?

If you think China is no better than the US, move there...?

The United States is rapidly becoming a country of about the same integrity as any other country in the World. Personally, I don't know why it is such a huge issue that the games are being held in China. Yes, China has issues but so does every other country in the World, including the United States. The Olympics are not a conservative, nor a Christian activity, so where they choose to hold the games is not going to be effected by principles the average Christian would hold. Therefore, we can cleverly deduce that our opinion about the location of the games is of none effect. Besides, I would rather the games be in Communist China than Nazi Germany and as it has already been stated, the games were held there also. But, that personally is not mine to decide.
