I'm confused.

Does McCain have a running mate already?

Because for all the media is reporting, the only running mate that is newsworthy is whoever Obama picks. Even Fox News..."fair and balanced"....is all about Obama's running mate.

What gives?

No, not yet. There's a rumor that Mitt Romney may be his running mate. He hasn't chosen one yet, though.

I;m thinking that McCain's waiting until Obama picks his. If Obama picks an "old white guy" McCain, may then go with Sarah Palin (which will cinch the evangelical vote as well as a large chunk of the female vote). However if Obama picks Hillary, then McCain will have to go another direction.

The MSM seem to not be aware anyone else is running for president except Obama.

That's what I've been noticing, and its extremely annoying.

McCain should get equal time...and I haven't heard a whisper of anyone else running yet according to OB there are a few independents running. EACH person running for President should be given equal media time, really.

If McCain picks Lieberman he is a fool. He needs to get support from the right which Lieberman can't bring.

I don't know why Obama is even picking a VP. Everyone seems to believe he is the second coming so even if something were to happen to him he would just ressurect.

LOL no kidding re. Obama...and I agree about Lieberman. There are rumors he may choose a pro choice running mate...in which case he is trying harder to get Obama's votes than the far right.

They've actually covered McCain / Lieberman the last 2 days around here more than Obama I thought. But may be that is because I'm from Connecticut. lol

I listened to an interview on Newsmax with Carville, remember him? Democratic strategist for BClinton.

He said that BO's running mate will mirror what his message has been all about, so no-one will really be surprised, although Biden has said it's not him.

Then he said that whoever McCain picks will be a surprise.

As far as the pro-choice VP - McCain made some comments about the possibility, but there was a lot of noise (somewhere, I don't know where), so Tom Ridge is no longer on the list (he was on the short list) and the RNC made an announcement that McCain will not choose a pro-choice running mate. Speculation has bee loud about him choosing Lieberman, and they are good friends. Lieberman could possibly help some with independent votes, but McCain is already leading in those, according to recent (yesterday) polls. I really think he's going to wait until Obama announces (which is supposed to be tomorrow or Sat). And I think he should. Next week is the Dem convention, and then attention will focus on McCain a little more.

Watch and see...the Clinton's are going to make suer that the convention is all about them, with a little Obama. He's already lower in the polls than he should be going into the convention...I doubt he'll get the bounce that a nominee usually gets afterward.

I still am of the opinion that Hilary is up to something that the Dem. Nomination is not a done deal yet.

Oh, I don't think she's done yet, either. Carville explained that the roll call vote is a catharsis from such a bruising campaign. Bruising? Brother - I remember some real doozies, and theirs came nowhere close!

She and BO supposedly came to some accord at Feinstein's house. But, I personally think that whatever they said to each other, both had their fingers crossed. Neither one could spot the truth if it were in front of their nose with a neon sign flashing "truth here."

Some have speculated that he promised her a Supreme Court seat...which would give her more power than president, but only after John Roberts isn't Chief Justice (and I have no doubt he could put her in her place!).

My personal opinion is somewhat leaning to thinking that she has asked for that roll call to flex her muscles and show she is desired as POTUS by some. And then, I think that she and her cronies will work behind the scenes to hurt BO's chances. I think she realizes she could never beat McCain, but in 2012, he will be too old to run again. So, I think she has set her sights on that year. JMO

About his choice:

http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/08/21 ... aying-who/

Barack Obama says he?s chosen his running mate ? but he?s not telling who it is.

The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee told USA Today Thursday afternoon that he has made up his mind on his No. 2, with the Democratic National Convention just days away. He would not say whether he?s told that person.

?I won?t comment on anything else until I introduce our running mate to the world,? he said. ?That?s all you?re going to get out of me.?

Obama is expected to head to Springfield, Ill., Saturday for a joint appearance with his running mate. It?s not clear whether he?ll announce his selection before the weekend.

Our? Does he think he's royalty and needs to speak in the majestic plural? Yuck!

Obama is planning to announce the choice in a text message to supporters sometime before Saturday afternoon, when he?s scheduled to appear with his pick in Illinois.

Asked when the text would be sent, Obama just grinned and said, ?Wouldn?t you like to know??
:roll
