The Lord persevered his words unto all generations.

Psalms 12:6-7
6 The words of the LORD are pure words:
as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them
from this generation for ever.

When the Lord gave scripture to O.T. Jews, he gave it to them in their language.

When the Lord gave scripture to N.T. Christians, he gave it to them in the language of the day.

Then the Lord gave nations Holy Bibles in their language.

Finally, the Lord gave the entire world Holy Bibles in the universal language,

which was translated into languages throughout the world.

The KJV Holy Bible is the most translated bible of all time.

The KJV Holy Bible is the most translated book of all time.

Predestination, inspiration and providence continued throughout

canonization and publication of scripture.

While the entire line of scripture are records, the outstanding record of scripture

and the scripture of final authority is the published text and form

of the AV 1611 KJV Holy Bible first edition.

All KJV Bibles are editions of the AV 1611 KJV Holy Bible first edition.

The KJV Holy Bible is the most published, distributed and read bible of all time.

And noted that they were included for historical purposes only and were not inspired.

If you are going to include information, you really ought to include all the relevant information.

Are historical books, one is believed to more accurate than the other, but I cannot remember which one.  Most if not all of the others have no practical use as far as I know.

1 Maccabees records the "abomination of desolation" of the holy-of-holies by Antiochus IV Epiphanes,  which resulted in the Maccabeen revolt, which resulted in the rededication of the Temple (included anointing).  The rededication is mentioned in John's Gospel as it was the only Holy Day (feast day) in the Jewish calendar that was in winter and it is celebrated to this day as Hanukkah.

And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winterJohn 10:22

Josephus does mention that Antiochus desolated the temple.  But in his brief history of Jerusalem, he mentions only two desolations.

  1. By Nebuchadnezzar
  2. By Titus

The efforts by Antiochus were nothing like those.

The destruction of the Temple is not the same as the desecration of the Temple.  Antiochus set up an image of Zeus in the Holy-of-Holies and is a "type" of Antichrist.  When the true Antichrist comes, he will enter into the Holy-of-Holies and proclaim that he is God and demand worship.  He will also set up an image of himself that is animated.  Jesus warns of this coming Antichrist and Paul warns us of this coming Antichrist in Thessalonians.  Matt 24:15, Mark 13:14, 2 Thes 2

Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped;
so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.  2 Thes 2:4
Satan's man will have unbelievable supernatural power and deception.

The scripture spesks of desolation, not desecration.  The temple was desolated by Neb and Titus.

And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate. Dan 11:31 This refers to the abomination in the Temple performed by Antiochus Epiphanes.

This refers to the abomination in the Temple, not the destruction of the Temple.  One is spiritual, one is literal.  One defiles, one destroys.

The scripture warns us that there will be a man who enters the Temple and declares that he is God.

And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. Dan 12:11 This refers to the Antichrist (False Messiah, yet future).

Not so.  The "they" in Dan 11:31 refers to the Romans, not Antiochus.  The Romans came in the ships of Tarshish and their arms stood against Antiochus when he tried to invade Egypt.  The Roman general drew a line in the sand and said words to the effect that "If you cross that line , you are a dead man"  Antiochus returned the way he came and took his anger out on the Jews.

There was only one desolation and it was still future when our Lord said:

Mat 24:15  When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16  Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17  Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18  Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19  And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20  But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21  For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

And Luke tells us what the desolation would be. The Roman armies surrounding Jerusalem.

Luke 21: 20 ¶  And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. 21  Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. 22  For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

Re the 1290 days.

The time between Cestius investing Jerusalem with the Roman armies in AD 66 to the day the sacrifice failed was exactly 1290 days.

The entire chapter of Daniel records (in detail), the conflict between the Seleucid (Greek) Empire and the Ptolemaic (Greek) Empire.  It's a historical fact and is also mentioned in Maccabees. When Jesus referenced the "abomination of desolation", they knew exactly what he was referring to, as it had already occurred centuries before, and would again be fulfilled in the future.  Two abominations: one by Antiochus Epiphanes and one by the "man of sin", the False Messiah (aka: antichrist).

PS: the reason why the liberals insist that there were "two Daniels" is because of the accuracy of Daniel 11.  They deny prophecy and insist that the "second Daniel" wrote this chapter after-the-fact.  This is an extremely accurate prophetic fulfillment of the struggle between the Selucid and Ptolemic Greek Empires.

I agree with the final paragraph.  Verse 40 returns to the Romans who by that time had overthrown the Seleucid kingdom and were thus thus the King of the North, in the person of Augustus.  verse 43, Augustus captured the vast treasures of Cleopatra, the last of the Ptolemies. Herod, was allied to Antony but when Antony was defeated he managed against the odds to get in with Augustus.  verse 40 the Time of the end refers to the time of the end of the Greek kingdoms.  The willful king verse 36 is Herod.  The god who his fathers did not know was Augustus, the deified emperor.  The rest of the chapter takes us to Christ, Ch 12:1.  More accurate than you might imagine.
