Guest Guest
:uuhm: yeah, Kevin. Then, we have the Book of Esther. Martin Luther didn't even want to include that book in the Bible at the time...because she was a prostitute prior to being queen and saving the Israelites. It was too scandalous...you know? LOL. Members DeafBaptist
All I can say is that the power of Christ can compel one to change... When I was saved, I lost a lot of desires to this world and experienced freedom in a way that cannot be expressed... The same can happen for Ray Boltz... As for listening to his songs... I'm not much of a fan. But there are some of his songs that I do like... Lately though, my taste in music is changing... it's mostly old hymns or Southern Gospel... Thank you, Jesus! Guest Guest
:amen: DB. That is what God can do! He is in the business of working miracles. If Ray Boltz is saved...he will bring Him back to the fold. If he is not...then, I pray that he comes to know Christ as Lord and Saviour. I just don't believe in "shunning." The Mormons and the Amish do that...not Baptists...you know? God wants us to love sinners and hate the sin. :thumb We have the "Great Commission" and God wants us to utilize His Word the best way that we know how. God bless, brother. Members DeafBaptist
Our prayers may be the ones upholding him at the moment... We never know how deep one can be drawn into sin, until it's too late at times... let's continue praying for him that he may be rescued from the snares of the devil and that Jesus will draw Him closer to Himself than ever before... I would hate to lose the prayers of others just because I was wallowing in sin...
Members war_eagle
So far in the discussion on Ray Boltz nobody has made mention of the scriptural fallout as a result of his so-called "coming out of the closet." In other words, since Ray Boltz is a homosexual, I wonder how many of you are willing to obey the scriptures and separate from him by throwing away any and all tapes, CDs, sheet music, ect of his that you might have? 1 Corinthians 5:11 -"But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat." This isn't an issue for me, since I don't really care for his music in the first place, but why throw out sheet music when most of his music wasn't written or published by him? I tend to seperate the music from the individual.
Members copper
This is like the fifth time I've heard this - twice from secular people - and I have absolutely NO IDEA who this guy is. I guess he is some "Christian" singer or something. My church only sings hymns so to my knowledge, all the writers of the hymns are already long since gone home to be in glory. I'm sorry to hear he was a fake but, I'm sorry to hear that Judas was a disciple too. Shrug it off and quit putting so much attention on servants! Members IM4given
I have never heard of this Ray Boltz, and this thread is not surprising to me. Sometimes I think there must be some sort of Big Christian Country Club that everyone else is a member of - with the CCM, and books written by certain authors, etc. that I have never been privy to. The only book I need to read is the KJV, and the only music I have ever sung has been from songwriters who have long since gone on to glory. All else is simply being a part of the world - so if I seem a bit out of touch - then I praise God for achieving my goal of being separated from the world!

[/quote'] Ah, but I've written a couple of songs that I think you'd like, Janet! They are completely in line with scripture, and the music to them is very good! As far as that country club - it is nice when we don't know who or what's being talked about, eh? I didn't know the fellow's name, although I have heard a couple of the songs he wrote (one has really good lyrics). I do have to kinda disagree that all else is simply being part of the world. God gave people that are alive the ability to write music, too. Not all new Christian music is CCM. And while there is a lot of junk out there, not all books are worthless, either. But I understand your sentiment!!!
Guest Guest
Highlighted Area: I would love to see your music, LuAnne. :smile I am certain that it is beautiful. :-) True! Yes, I agree! I have seen it and can decipher what is "junk" and what is not. God brings that to my attention pretty quickly. :thumb I can only speak for myself. Members futurehope
Sad to say, growing up around Methodists, CCM was okay and encouraged. "Feel the Nails" was the first solo I ever sang in church and I followed it with THE ANCHOR HOLDS, THANK YOU, WATCH THE LAMB, I SAW HIS SCARS, and others. I used to be really into his music when I was younger, but moved away from it as I matured in Christ. Sad to say that most of his songs really did have great messages, it was just that too much of his lifestyle showed me that it was about him more than serving God. Now I see why. How sad. :sad
Members John81
Some wonderful modern Christian music is written by the Getty's. :thumb
Members kevinmiller
By definition, any modern music written would be "contemporary" Christian music. I've also written some songs, LuAnne, though I've never recorded any of it. I'd love to, though.
Guest Guest
Yes! They are quite good, IMO. They visited Cleveland a couple of years ago. They might still be here. They are missionaries. They were staying with a church on the northeast side of Cleveland. They wanted to use them as there "home base" at least, then.
