Because You Passed My Way My load's a little lighter now, Because you passed my way - The sun's a little brighter And the clouds have passed away. I've found my Saviour nearer, And each day He grows still dearer And I'm on my way to Glory, Because you passed my way. I was lost and no one seemed to care Until you passed my way, You saw me, and led me to Christ Oh, what a happy day, Now I'm living all for Jesus, And with Him I'll be some day, For I found a new beginning, Because you passed my way. And when in realms of glory, I see His precious face, And hear the angel voices Within that heavenly place, I'll rememb…

FEAR My friend went on ahead And left me here To walk my last, long mile Alone; and Fear Stepped to his vacant place And said that he Would walk with me, and my Companion be. And so he dogged my steps In this dark vale Where death's wings shadow me. My face grew pale, My spirit quailed. I called One precious Name In my distress, and lo, That loved One came! He closely holds my hand, This tender Friend, Nor will He let me go Until the end. And as He walks with me, Daily more dear, I find that trust and love Have cast out Fear. I wrote this poem to encourage a believer in my church (and his family) who is currently facing the battle with cancer and radiation treatments. I wanted to remind him where he came from (spiritually), as well as where his victory comes today - without getting specific on the healing of his cancer, as I do not presume to know God's will - but wanted to emphasize the strength that comes from trusting in the Lord and the willingness to fight the battles He gives us. Facing Your Goliath You followed the Lord out of Egypt, Buried your old master in the Red Sea, Wandered around in the wilderness, Knowing your Redeemer has made you free. Crossed over the flo…

The Darkness Is Passing Away The shadow of death will turn to morning like the breaking of the day, Our trials will turn to blessings in Godās own wondrous way; These light afflictions are for a moment, then they too will pass away, When the brightness of His glory is here forevermore to stay. Though the shadows overwhelm you, and you canāt see the path ahead, At times the storm clouds gather round you, and frighten you with their dread; Jesus will turn your mourning into dancing; your sorrow and pain will pass away ā The bright Morning Star is coming soon ā with the dawning of a brand new day. One day, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, …

My son was separated from the Coast Guard after 11 years of service, because he refused to take the jab. Here is his poem. The Sea Iāll miss your sounds, your salty breeze, Your unforgiving ways. Your soothing calm, your angry tease, Your glorious crashing waves. Itās been bittersweet my gorgeous mistress, Though often unforgiving. Iāve seen your rage, embraced your kiss, I offer my humble thanksgiving. You have my blood, my sweat, and my tears, Still Iāll offer one last treasure. Calloused my hands, helped conquer my fears, Now my boots are yours forever. Your soothing rock, through trough and crest, Have…

Only In Jesus The eternal God is your refuge, Holding you up, keeping you close. Thereās a comfort in His presence Only the child of faith truly knows. Peace that passeth all understanding, Guarding your spirit and your mind; Assurance from the heart of God, That only the trusting soul can find. Underneath are His everlasting arms; Lifting you up from the miry clay, Covering you with His sheltering wings, Giving you the strength you need each day. Only in Jesus is that perfect peace, Only in Jesus can you find that rest, That yoke, walking side by side with Him - In the hands of the Saviour you are blessed. Only in Jesus. …

A Reststop Along The Way When the valleys of life seem so dreary, And the way ahead seems so hard, My soul aches and cries out for a reststop - Somewhere safe I can let down my guard. A place of calm within the tempest, A hiding place from the wintery blast. A place of refuge for my troubled heart - Where Shilohās waters flow gently past. A comfort in my time of trouble; A haven of rest in my darkest day; A sanctuary where my soul is safe, A blessed shelter along the way. When I am dry and my soul is thirsty, You alone bring soothing to my pain; You are the only shadow in this weary land - The refreshing cloud that comes with th…

Numbers In The Bible Series 45 - Laodicea, The Lukewarm Church Day 45 - Laodicea, The Lukewarm Church Sis Kate has already tackled several aspects of the seven letters to the churches in this series - I believe this study would fit there as well. It is interesting to note that there are three things Christ says about Himself in the opening part of the letter, and three things He counsels them to buy from Him through faith. The five things they were lacking in are all met by grace in salvation (grace is often pictured by the number five). Laodicea, The Lukewarm Church There is much we can glean from the seven letters to the churches in Revelation chapt…

This was written for/about a friend I sometimes think about at this time of year. The Hope Of Christmas In the midst of my sorrows, troubles and tears, I sought the Lord and He saved me from my fears. In this time when you are overwhelmed by loss, Remember the Saviour who died on the cross ā Thatās my hope this Christmas. Struggling to overcome my dark addictions, And learning to make some braver decisions; You broke through all those chains that held me so tight, You scattered my darkness because Youāre my Light ā Thatās my hope this Christmas. This Christmas, I know youāre not celebrating, But our reunionās worth anticipating. My s…

The Lion Of Godās Word I love how the Apostle Paul used many images and comparisons in his preaching and writing to get the truth across to his readers, like in the following verse: 2 Timothy 2:8-9 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound. Vineās Expository Dictionary says this about the word āboundā as used in this passage: āā¦its ministry, course and efficacy were not hindered by the bonds and imprisonment suffered by the apostle.ā Even though Paul was imprisoned and bound, the Word of God was not. …

I found an old poem that I never posted anywhere. Looks like I edited it slightly after I became KJV-only, and I just tweaked a few words right now to make it flow a little better (and not just say "Him"). Chosen In Christ Jesus We deserved wrath, but God showed mercy; We deserved judgement, but He gave grace; Our sins excluded us from His presence - Now reconciled, we can see Godās face. We dwelt in the kingdom of darkness, Enslaved by the chains of our sins; We were dead in our vile trespasses, Until the Lord Jesus Christ entered in. Controlled by the prince of this world, Marred by the depravity of our…

I wrote this poem during a very difficult time in my life. I was facing having to go disabled, losing everything we had, and having to file for bankruptcy. It was also a time when the world thought everything was going to collapse because of Y2K. If we only knew then what we know now! I have a compilation of poetry and short stories that I've written over the years, as well as a couple of books I've written that I'm editing before having them published. I hope this poem is helpful to those who read it. BT In Each Life An Original Poem by Anthony J Lanius Ā©Copyright October 1999 Itās strange to look back At the years that have passed Whe…

When I Read The Bible Through I supposed I knew my Bible, Reading piecemeal, hit or miss, Now a bit of John or Matthew, Now a snatch of Genesis, Certain chapters of Isaiah, Certain Psalms (the twenty-third), Twelfth of Romans, First of Proverbs - Yes, I thought I knew the Word! But I found that thorough reading Was a different thing to do, And the way was unfamiliar When I read the Bible through. You who like to play at Bible, Dip and dabble, here and there, Just before you kneel aweary, And yawn through a hurried prayer; You who treat the Crown of Writings As you treat no other book - Just a paragraph disjointed, Just a crude…

Call Back If you have gone a little way ahead of me, call backĀ; 'Twill cheer my heart and help my feet along the stony track; And if, perchance, Faith's light is dim, because the oil is low, Your call will guide my lagging course as wearily I go. Call back, and tell me that He went with you into the storm; Call back, and say He kept you when the forest's roots were torn; That when the heavens thundered and the earthquake shook the hill, He bore you up and held you where the very air was still. O friend, call back and tell me, for I cannot see your face; They say it glows with triumph, and your feet bound in the race; But there are mists bet…

Wrestling Until The Break Of Day Alone with God ā salvationās story, Wrestling until the break of day. This is worth the greatest glory, To cling to Jesus come what may. Wrestling, praying, holding on so tight, Like a prince, I wonāt let Him go. Transformed by grace throughout the night ā Oh how much He must love me so! Running from fear, and troubling trials, Faltering, afraid, stopped in my tracks; From worry, to peace ā yet, all the while, Knowing inside thereās no turning back. Wrestling until the darkness shatters, A part of me wonāt give up this fight; But itās not my hold on God that matters: He is wrestling with my soul t…

In the beginning God... - Genesis 1:1 Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. My Name Is I Am I was regretting the past and fearing the future When suddenly my Father was speaking: My Name is I AM. He paused and I waited: He continued. When you live in the past with its regrets and mistakes It is hard for me. I am not there. My name is not I WAS. When you live in the future with its problems and fears It is difficult for me. I am not there. My name is not I WILL BE. When you live in this moment…

Today, I found an old poem I had written in a box that I had in a closet for over 10 years. It only needed a few words tweaked. When so many are focussed on the events of the end times, here is a poem about the central figure - the Lord Jesus Christ. In the same chapter of Revelation (chapter 5), He is portrayed both as a Lamb and a Lion. When This Lion Begins To Roar The Lamb is coming back again - This time itās not like before: The world will never be the same When this Lion begins to roar. Once meek and lowly, like a Lamb, Riding gently upon a colt; Now with vengeance unrestrained, Like a charging thunderbolt. Once a sacrifice for…

Quietness And Confidence I come to Thee, O Lord, to-night, A glad and trustful child; Thy light has made my darkness light, Thy love my heart beguiled. I came to Thee by sin oppressed, Now many years ago; And I have found that perfect rest Thou only canst bestow. My hand is placed in Thine, my Lord, Thou canst not lead me wrong; I stay my soul upon Thy word, My pilgrim-way along. Some call our life a wilderness, A desert dark and drear; To me this life is nothing less Than Heaven begun down here. They surely cannot know the grace Which from Thy presence flows, Which makes the solitary place To blossom as the rose. …

I Sleep, But My Heart Waketh I sleep, but my heart waketh ā my Shepherd is near ā The voice of my Beloved is knocking; āve grown so comfortable here in my room ā Outside, in the cold, I hear Him talking. āArise, and come away with Me, My love,ā He tenderly calls to me, but I waver. Though due to my sin, He withdraws Himself; Yet, in the night air, I still smell His savour. Slowly, I rise, but canāt feel His presence: The dark street seems so desolate and empty; I cannot find where my Beloved has gone ā My own lukewarmness made Him depart from me. The watchmen of the city wounded me sore, They tore my veil away and left me senseless; …

Mother's Day In Heaven (Dedicated to my Mom - I miss you, and look forward to seeing you again!) Itās your first Motherās Day in Heaven ā I'm so thankful that you're not alone; As you behold the face of our Saviour, And are blessed to worship at His throne. Mom, I would love to send you flowers, Though their fading glory could not compare To the beautiful sights and sounds of Heaven, And your very own mansion over there. I never thought so much about Heaven, As I have since youāve gone home to that place ā Oh Mom, I miss you so very much, And I long to see your precious face. You see, this earthly home now seems more emp…

Thou God Seest Me Thou God seest me ā You are the very God who sees The beginning and the end; Through all the trials I face in life, Jesus, You are my greatest Friend. Thou God seest me ā You donāt just see all my situations, You truly know whatās in my heart; And despite all lifeās complications, In wisdom, You know just where to start: Thou God seest me ā You know my needs before I ask them; You strengthen me when I am weak; In my deepest times of sorrow, You provide the comfort that I seek. Thou God seest me ā I need never fear for my future ā You are already preparing the way; As a Shepherd, You are guiding, And my p…

To Him That Overcometh There are wondrous rewards that the Bible has promised, There are precious crowns that are waiting to be won ā But all the blessings that the Lord has offered, Are for those who are trusting by faith in Godās Son. Thereās a world system that is risen up against us, Controlled by that wicked spirit, Satan, that hates our Lord; Thereās a spiritual battle for our souls that is raging ā But to give in to defeat or compromise we canāt afford. To be an overcomer means you trust the Saviour that has died; Upon your account of sin, His precious blood has been applied; When you place your faith in Jesus Christ and His death on C…

Undertake For Me Jesus, I feel so overwhelmed ā Wonāt you undertake for me? Exchange these burdens of my heart For the sweetness of Your peace. I cast these cares upon You, Lord ā I cannot hold them anymore; They are like the waves upon the sea, Relentless against the shore. I roll these troubles unto You, I cannot bear them though Iāve tried; I let them fall down around Your feet, With all these tears that Iāve cried. Exchange all these troubles, Lord, For the joy that is Yours alone, I place them all into Your arms, As I worship around Your throne. I will take Your yoke upon me, Jesus ā Oh, it makes for such a lighter lo…
