Are you still in China? If so, my friend's job wouldn't work, she works at home selling discount medical plans and does quite well at it.

Another friend of mine has an embroidery machine and does towels and other gifts from home although she hasn't been lately as she's moved and things. She still has a website though.

I do cakes from home, of course...

And then there's always Avon....

What are you thinking about?

Kitagrl, Did your friend do very good in the embroidery? Before my mom's stroke she had an embroidery shop. Well, after her stroke we had to close it down, but I kept the equipment. I have a 12 needle embroidery machine. My wife has thought about making a web site and trying to sell things she made with it. It would be a side bussiness, with the baby on the way. I would not ask if you had not said she is not doing it right now. I have wondered about it for a long time. Saw the link on your signature.

Hey she is in South Carolina, there is no reason more people can't do it! Look online, several were doing it. I think it would be very profitable if you can get your name out there. My friend even sews very well, she makes the best hooded baby towels. Anyway personalization is a big thing...I myself have used a local embroidery place to get my business name put on an apron and chef's coat. You can market online and Ebay but also locally is a huge market because people have things already that they want to take somewhere and get personalized.

Good "luck" as they say!

I was just saying that a guy might have more time for that than a mom.

Yet this "guy" is a full time stay-at-home dad, homeschooling my kids while my wife works 8 hours a day outside the home. Meanwhile, I'm bringing in more than half the income, while taking care of our kids and homeschooling them all the while on seizure medication that makes me sleepy all the time. I'd say if I can do it, then pretty much anyone else can. Unless, like my wife, you think men can always do everything better than women, even taking care of kids at home. (BTW, we disagree on this)

Ok ok we've been here, done this. LOL.

Its not that I think there is anything wrong with what you do....but I think your attitude is kind of egotistical about it. Some people can't emotionally handle what others can. I know I get pressured easily by too much going on at one time. I also take care of kids and work my business at home but he does help when he is home quite alot.

Yep that's good money too although I'd think not as popular with the computer age...

That's exactly why she is doing good. Some people want the real thing, and not computerized. They will pay alot of money for it. kinda like real homemade food compare to microwave food.

True...that's really cool! I used to do calligraphy as a teen but never got professional at it, nor really wanted to.

Ebay.....
Computer....
.....and you live in China!!!!!!

I have bought stuff direct from Taiwan, Vietnam, Hong Kong and China. So why couldn't you buy goods dirt cheap, mark them up and sell on Ebay?

What sort of goods are you talking about? I don't want to sell pirated or fake brand name things, but it seems that's the only way to make good money off the goods China is coming out with.

I'm not talking about illegal or fake stuff. I don't know what is available to you, but tons of legitimate brand name stuff is manufactured in China. And alot of things have Chinese brands. From what I understand, even retail items sell for MUCH less there, than they do in the US

Well I've wracked my brain trying to come up with ideas of what China has that I could sell and make good profit off of, but I haven't come up with anything yet. I have no "inside scoop" to any factories or sellers here. And usually true name brand stuff here is just as expensive if not more expensive than in the states.

I think the idea about maternity skirts is a great idea!!! I'd buy them! Someone who can se should also learn to make modest and beautiful wedding gowns. Looking for a wedding gown with a modest neckline as nigh to impossible for me earlier this year. I finally bought mine froma mormon website...

I've had a lot of people tell me i should get into calligraphy...I wonder how lucrative it is? I used to do it a lot as a teenager, but never thought about doing it for a living.

you must have very neat handwriting for people to tell you that.

people used calligraphy for wedding invitations, awards, etc.
