Members candlelight
I Timothy 2:9... explains it simply for a woman. The ladies in my church hardly wear any make-up that would make they look like an Egyptian. I wear a little b/c I am in the habit of putting it on before going out the door. I like to cover my blemishes. I had a pastor say one time, "If the barn door needs painting, then paint it." Then, he went on to say that women should use their own judgment. I haven't seen a lady who hasn't, yet.
Moderators Ukulelemike Posted January 23, 2014 Moderators Share Posted January 23, 2014 I don't know about you other guys, but one this I have always disliked, was kissing my lady, and getting a mouthful of lipstick. Tastes nasty and chemical-y and of course, leaves you looking like you put some on the same morning. And you look like this:
Administrators HappyChristian Posted January 23, 2014 Administrators Share Posted January 23, 2014 Bwahaha. My hubby and I get two straws when I wear lipstick and we order iced mocha, so he won't get lipstick on him. There isn't anything wrong with makeup or jewelry - within reason. Moderation is what is taught in the Bible (principles gleaned from the OT lead me to believe [and practice] that eye makeup is not good to wear - but I wouldn't condemn someone who wears it lightly...well, I wouldn't condemn someone, anyway). And if I wear pearls or gold jewelry or not, what we give at church is none of anyone else's business.

If I am wearing lipstick, he won't drink out of my glass. I agree HC. Wearing makeup or jewelry should be done in moderation. Hence, why we should use our best judgment. Members Anon
I don't think it's a necessary hobby horse. It goes along with "modesty" which is preached in context whenever it comes up in Scripture. Nobody in our church has any problem with makeup or jewelry though...we had one family with girls who wore huge jewelry and tacky clothing but they no longer come, and nobody else does anything close to that. Members 2bLikeJesus
We are country folk out here in a logging community so makeup and jewelry has rarely been an issue. Light if any makeup worn, and no one I know in our church can afford a lot of gold and pearls. My Pastor does ask that if jewelry is worn, that it does not direct a mans eyes off of a woman's face and to areas of her body he should not be inspecting/admiring. We had an issue with one of our bus teens who seemed to like glitter on her chest leading down. It was the only time I heard my Pastor pull someone aside and ask her to stop doing it. She left the church soon afterwards. In our parts we have more problems with some of the men's pornographic/inappropriate tatoos showing. We had to insist one man not show up to church in short sleeves. He was offended and never returned, but the tatoos were definitely bad news and not appropriate. Bro.
