Ecumenical, subjective (God is glorified most when we are enjoying ourselves most?! Really?!?), social gospel (the gospel spread by 'engaging poverty and injustice'), no presentation of salvation or mention of sin.  I would say 'this Jesus' is a figurehead rather than a Savior.

DURING THE EARLY DAYS OF THE PASSION GOD CONNECTED OUR STORY TO THE CONFESSION FOUND IN ISAIAH 26:8, SPECIFICALLY THE LAST PHRASE WHICH SAYS, “FOR YOUR NAME AND RENOWN ARE THE DESIRE OF OUR SOULS.”

THE HEART OF PASSION IS GOD’S GLORY, AND GOD IS MOST GLORIFIED IN US WHEN WE LIVE LIVES THAT ARE FULLY SATISFIED IN HIM. IN AN EFFORT TO FLESH OUT THIS DESIRE, THE 268 DECLARATION WAS CRAFTED AROUND THE FOLLOWING 5 STATEMENTS AND PRAYERS--

 

1. A PASSION TO KNOW GOD ABOVE ALL THINGS - BECAUSE I WAS CREATED BY GOD AND FOR HIS GLORY, I DESIRE TO MAKE KNOWING AND ENJOYING GOD THE PASSIONATE PURSUIT OF MY LIFE.

2. LOVE FOR THE LOCAL EXPRESSION OF HIS CHURCH - BECAUSE CHRIST ESTABLISHED THE CHURCH FOR GOD’S GLORY, I WILL INVEST THE GIFTS HE HAS GIVEN ME IN THE LIFE AND MISSION OF MY LOCAL CHURCH.

3. UNITY AMONG BELIEVERS THAT AMPLIFIES HIS NAME - BECAUSE GOD’S FAME IS AMPLIFIED WHEN BELIEVERS LOVE EACH OTHER, I WILL STRIVE FOR UNITY AMONG ALL CHRISTIANS ON MY CAMPUS.

4. A DESIRE TO SEE CHRIST CELEBRATED WHERE I LIVE - BECAUSE MANY AROUND ME ARE SEPARATED FROM GOD, I WILL SHARE THE STORY OF JESUS WHERE I LIVE.

Ok I agree with you all,

Now, how would you feel about now if your daughter was being courted by a young man who is attending one of these events this very weekend? Would someone who can get ahold of God help me pray about this situation?

I would have to know the young man better. I know some very solid men of God today who once attended Promise Keepers events, listened to Petra and other stuff. At the time some wondered about their standing, about their maturity level, or even if they were saved. As it turns out, they were just young and immature (both physically and spiritually). They did have a true desire to follow Christ and over time the Lord refined and pruned them. As they yielded to the guiding hand of God, they grew into mature men of God.

 

That said, it certainly isn't the case that all who were or are involved in similar will turn out this way. Actually, it seems more often than not they don't.

 

Of course, when it comes to my children, I tend to lean on the side of caution. I will join with you in prayer on this matter.
