I watched a documentary which said that roses will actually respond to cutting by activating stored energy to grow for a little while to counteract the injury. Some cut plants will grow roots if you place them in wet sand (called a "root bed"). I don't know if roses do that or not.

We've never tried to grow them in a root bed.  But I do know that a bush gets more buds /flowers on them when the roses are cut.

OFP - too funny!   :clapping: It's so kind of you to let her participate in activities.

Never tried what you call a root bed, but a cut flower from a Gardenia bush will if you keep it in water. We've started 4 or 5 of them.

To make mine, I just dug a trench out back beside the end of washing machine drain pipe., backfilled it with pure sand, and used it to root trees. The sand makes it easy to extract the rooted plants......Did I get off topic again? Hold a minute...let me scroll to the top........
