Basically taken straight from my "About Me"

A Soldier in the US Army for about 10 years. Currently in Afghanistan and will be home after the New Year. I have been married for 9 years, yet the Army has had us apart for most of those. Raised in a Church and wanted to be a Youth Pastor until my Senior year of High School. Drifted away from both God and the Church, yet here recently once again re-opened my heart and mind to the Lord with a new vow to never forget him. I feel this time it is different since "I" chose to allow him into my heart.

Most recent struggle will be attempting to bring my wife to know the Lord as I do. I understand the importance of marriage as God has laid it out. She believes in God, yet fails to see the truth of the Bible or church. The additional hurdle with this is she has thought about returning to the church, but only if I agree to go to hers. She is Presbyterian. One thing that may help me in all of this is the fact that we are scheduled to be stationed in SE Germany come August. Hope the distance from family in TN helps bring us both closer to the Lord, and assists her in coming around to Jesus through the Baptist church. Please pray that this works out.

Last of all; Go Vols, Titans, Preds, and the Sox (Yes a TN boy with ties to New England, will discuss later)

Shane, welcome. And thanks for your service. My family and I appreciate your sacrifice. Please give our thanks to your wife, as well. It takes a special woman to be a military wife.

I'm so glad you've come back to the Lord. I know the peace you have now is wonderful. Give your wife time to find the same answers you have found. Pray for her constantly, and love her unconditionally. She will see by your changed life that what you have now is real and lasting.

We're glad to have you with us.

Welcome to OB. I have a son in the Army, Five times in Iraq (including the war). Now in the peaceful land of S. Korea.

I agree with HappyChristian.

Jesus Christ doesn't need men to stand up for Him; Christ needs men to stand like Him.

Welcome to OB! Shane, where is it you will be stationed in SE Germany? I might be able to help with a Church once you get here.
