I think the typos happen for several reasons - speed of publication being one. But I do think another is that people are less and less concerned with proper english, whether it's in speech or writing.

It drives me crazy too when I see typos and poorly-worded sentences. I almost fell off my chair yesterday when I saw an article in a newspaper about a group of hunters who shot a considerable amount of Peasants in October. There was a picture of the hunters posing with their Peasants. I showed it to my DH and he just shook his head. CJP56.

Good point. Part of this is due to lax standards in many schools coupled with the texting craze where spelling and grammar mean little.
