We can pray for your family, but as for you, there is no reason why you should be unsure of your salvation. Scripture is clear that we can know if we are saved or not.

"Isaiah 55:1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price."

"1 Timothy 2:3-5 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;"

Revelation 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

These passages make it very clear that Christ freely offers salvation to all who truly want it. Indeed God very much desires that all people accept salvation as his gift.

All God requires is that we truly repent, believe, and trust in Christ alone for salvation, understanding that our salvation it is not by our own works by or our own merit, but by the perfect merit and value of Christ.

"Mark 6:12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent."

"Acts 16: 27-32 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house."

"Romans 8:6-9 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him."

"Romans 10:9-13 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

"Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

That is all you must do to be saved and know it. Period. Now if you do repent, believe, and trust in Christ alone for salvation certain other things will follow, but they aren't needed to be saved, rather, they are a product of being saved. For example, a Christian will no longer be happy in sin when he commits it. It will bother you because the Holy Spirit indwells the Christian and the Spirit hates sin. If as a Christian you choose to ignore this you can't loose your salvation, but you certainly can loose your joy. It feels a lot worse to be a saved person living in sin than a lost person living in sin. Why? Because God is not usually actively judging a lost person: they are storing up wrath to themselves at the day of Gods final judgment, yet, the Christian will not be judged then so he is judged now if he will not listen to the Lord.

As it is written:

"1 Corinthians 11:32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world."

Now, if you can continue in sin after you profess salvation without being bothered by it, that is a very serious indication, and you should examine your heart very carefully to make your "calling and election sure" as scripture says.

As it is written:

"Hebrews 12: 6-8 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons."

These scriptures should give you assurance one way or another.

:goodpost: Seth.

Even so, sometimes one isn't sure because of various factors. When I was first saved I really believed I was saved. Shortly afterwards when I noticed I still sinned that bothered me. Not having any mature Christians around to talk with I was left to get help from various books (many of which, unknown to me at that time, were not written from proper biblical perspective), TV preachers and my own clumsy searches of Scripture.

It didn't help any that I would hear one TV preacher say one thing and another something else or that I might read something from Billy Graham that seemed to say all I had to do was believe to be saved while I might read something from a Charismatic preacher (not even knowing then there was such a thing as "Charismatic") who seemed to be using Scripture to show if I were saved I would be babbling in some unknown tongue. Add to that testimony accounts I read with people talking about "warm glows" or feeling the "electricity" of God or "feeling" the Holy Ghost within them and such; of which I didn't experience any "wow" feeling when I was saved.

Because of all this I found myself often wondering if I had "done it right" with regards to salvation. It wasn't until a few years later when God brought a great Christian friend into my life and he led me to a wonderful Baptist pastor that I truly learned of the assurance I had been looking for.

Speaking only with regards to my own situation, I do believe I wouldn't have really doubted or at least not as much and likely would have had it resolved sooner had I not been influenced by so many unbiblical books and TV preachers.

I thank God that through His Holy Ghost (which was and is within me) I never gave up searching for the truth and the Lord made sure I found it.

Discipleship is so important and needeful!

I will pray for your lost loved ones. And I am also praying that you will read and consider what Seth has said to you because there is no reason for you to have doubt about your salvation 1 John 5:13 says we can know we have eternal life.

:amen:

Sometimes, like the Ethiopian enuch, we need another to come alongside us to help us understand.

Hello Everyone,
Please pray for my lost loved ones as well as me, as I am unsure of my salvation. Thank you so much.

-Billy

I'll be praying. :pray
You need to look at some of the posts before this, though - as one of the posters pointed out, we can know we are saved. The Bible is clear on this.
(1 John 5:13) - "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."
God bless,
Crushmaster.
