70th Anniversary of Nazi Defeat The city of Stalingrad, which was renamed Volgograd in 1961, has regained its wartime name for the event, following a council decision. Around one million people are thought to have died in the battle. Soviet troops defeated the German Sixth Army, in what is considered one of the major turning points of World War II. From Stalingrad some Soviet soldiers fought all the way to Berlin, he adds. The defeat threw Hitler’s offensive in the Soviet Union into disarray. The victory in World War II is one of the things that unites all Russians, our correspondent adds. “At the heart of all Russia’s victories and achievements are patriotism, faith and…

Oh dear, what a pitty. There has been a scare recently that horse DNA has been found in some hamhurgers sold by our supermarkets. There are probably far worse things than horse in them! 2 February 2013 Last updated at 01:32 'Traces of pork DNA' found in Halal prison meat Animals intended for halal meat are traditionally slaughtered by hand in accordance with Islamic law The Ministry of Justice is to suspend a firm supplying meat to prisons after tests found that it may have provided pies and pasties described as Halal - but with traces of pork DNA. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said the "local authority" involved was investigating, while the MoJ …

So, I just received a letter from Calvary Road Baptist Church with the news that John Wilkerson has been called as the new pastor. Anyone have anything more on this, or know much about the pastor? Will he be beter than the last one? No, I'm not looking to stir anything up, nor do I want to argue about Schaap or Hyles-just curious if anyone knows anything, seeing as the, sll we say, current notoriety of the church. NO gossip, please.

Matthew 19:21, 27-30 21 Jesus said unto him, if thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. 27 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? 28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, o…

(This news story caught my eye for what it tells us without meaning to) Barely legal: Women wearing pants in Paris Paris is as fashion-forward as it gets. Then again, maybe not: Women, technically, are banned from wearing pants. At least according to a law from 1800, still on the books. But keep your trousers on: In a statement, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, France's minister of women's rights, said the 200-year-old ban has been supplanted by other laws. "This order was aimed first of all at limiting the access of women to certain offices or occupations by preventing them from dressing in the manner of men," she said. "This order is incompatible with the principle…

Psa 2:11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Have you ever noticed the times that the Bible speaks of "fear and trembling" together? I wonder if those of us who fear God actually tremble at the thought of His awesome power, and amazing grace? Eph 6:5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; If we are not subject to our masters here, why do expect our children to be subject to us? What about your wife? Don't think that if you constantly buck authority, that your family won't do so also. The point I wanted to make though is that we …

A man that had been hired last month at our local hospital as a nurse anesthetist, him & his wife died in a car wreck in central Arkansas. A bag with bottles of Propofol was found in his car. That is the same stuff that cost Michael Jackson his life. Can't help but wonder what kind of man this was & what he was doing with that stuff in his private car. They had just been down here about 1 month & was renting a house in an upscale housing addition until they decided to buy or build their own home. I'm not mentioning names but there is an article about it right here. It says it will take about 10 days for the toxicology report to be completed. Many…

“I have now disposed of all my property to my family. There is one more thing I wish I could give them, and that is the Christian faith. If they had that and I had not given them one shilling, they would have been rich; and if they had not that and I have given them all the world, they would be poor.”

I wasn't sure where to post this Exodus 15:23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah. I grew up in a godly family, my dad was a deacon who you would see studying his Bible every single day, the wisest man I knew, he didn't take the pastor's word for it, he researched everything in the Bible personally, he was kind, caring, and loved the Lord greatly. My mother was a prayer warrior, when she prayed, the Lord listened to her prayers, and it was made obvious to anyone who was watching. Hebrews 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace …

Hello my brothers and sisters in Christ, Can you help me think of any Godly activity for the adult professional ministry I will be handling? We have this new group ministry for young adults/professional and I was elected as President. This is my first time handling a group within the church and I do not have the experience. Can anyone give me advice or suggestion on how to manage this group? I know our Pastor would help me but I need other ideas too. Please pray for me. Thanks, Jenjen

Happychristian, I said some very harsh things to you in past, on this same forum. I did it openly, and now I feel I must apologize openly. There is no excuse for the tirade i waged against you, and I humbly ask that you forgive me, although I don' t blame you if you won't. I am sorry, and I will see that it doesn't happen again. Thank you for your input on this forum.

Interesting article that I just came by. Question is are you surprised by these findings? Do you think your church/religion/faith has a large influence on your relationship with other races? Meaning the closeness in relationship (your inner circle). http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-briggs/segregated-churches-segregated-lives-religion-race-and-marriage_b_2479693.html

I noticed that Ray Lewis keeps quoting Isaiah 54:17 during every interview. It's almost become a maniacal mantra with him now with the way he quotes the verse. It doesn't make any sense the way he applies the verse. I wonder if the man is suffering guilt from his involvement in that double-murder back in 2000 that he got off with.
