Homosexual 'marriage' - gateway to polygamy? Charlie Butts - OneNewsNow - 1/30/2009 6:00:00 AM Two polygamists in Canada are testing that country's law against their lifestyle. According to the Associated Press in Vancouver, British Columbia, Winston Blackmore and James Oler have been accused of being married to more than one woman at a time. In fact, Blackmore, 52, and Oler, 44, lead rival polygamous sects in the town of Bountiful. Blackmore has been charged with having 20 wives, while Oler is accused of having a mere two. Lawyers for the two men are using Canada's homosexual "marriage" laws to justify polygamy. Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth About Homose…

I never had time to discuss blogs in the past and never thought I would want to but, I've had a change of mind. It appears a lot of sites are available for these. Could some of you help me understand some of the following: How do I start a blog? Who can see your blog once you start one? How secure is a blog from others editing/spamming/etc? Can others leave comments about your blog comments? Is there a cost involved with having a blog? Is there a way to prevent obscene ads from appearing on your blog page? Is there a lot of time required to create a blog page? A lot of people here use http://blogspot.com/ is this a Christian blog location? Can someone p…

Anybody have any thoughts on this year's Super Bowl? I'm a huge Steelers fan so I'm pretty excited. I think we'll win 31-13. Sure Kurt Warner is good, but so were Joe Flacco, Drew Brees, and Matt Cassel. We did lose to both Mannings and Tony Romo, though. I think the Steelers defense is just too good and Big Ben is too much of a big-time QB that won't let this slip. HERE WE GO STEELERS!!

National Defense and the Bible -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- By Martin G. Selbrede -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Covenant News ~ February 01, 2009 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Is war Biblical? We can find hope in Isaiah?s prophecy that as the knowledge of the Lord continues to flow over the earth, the nations will flow into His kingdom desiring to be instructed out of God's Law how to walk in His paths (Isa. 2:2-4). As a result, ?nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war …

Not sure how to start this :smile Most here agree there are "major" issues, such as the Fundamentals, that need to be addressed at the beginning of a Christians walk, or even prior to that. Most here also agree there are many other issues Scripture deals with that are important but not something that needs to be pressed upon new converts immediately. Not sure how well that came out...perhaps enough of you know me well enough to understand what I'm trying to say :Green Anyway, when in a Christians walk do the "minor" issues become important do address? Or, perhaps this is another question, when in a Christians walk should we expect them to start addressing the "mi…

KURTIS THE STOCK BOY AND BRENDA THE CHECKOUT GIRL In a supermarket, Kurtis the stock boy, was busily working when a new voice came over the loud speaker asking for a carry out at register 4. Kurtis was almost finished, and wanted to get some fresh air, and decided to answer the call. As he approached the check-out stand a distant smile caught his eye, the new check-out girl was beautiful. She was an older woman (maybe 26, and he was only 22) and he fell in love. Later that day, after his shift was over, he waited by the punch clock to find out her name. She came into the break room, smiled softly at him, took her card and punched out, then left. He looked at …

LACKING LEGITIMACY by Brother Gregory Williams January 23, 2009 NewsWithViews.com When August Caesar was sworn into his last 10 year term of office as the Emperor of the Roman Empire, he handed the sacred tablet upon which the oath was written to Tiberius and had him read it. He said he would not take an oath he did not intend to keep. The other day all America watched as the oath of office for the presidency of the United States was administered to Barack Obama. Millions of dollars were spent on the lavish ceremony performed before the whole world. While millions watched, some people of faith looked closely to see if Barack Obama would actually place his ha…

Where do I begin? I'm in a war with the devil and I'm losing the battle because recently I've lost my girlfriend, job, and the school I attend are saying their going to remove me. Not to mention, I went to jail just recetly. I'm looking at life like it's a big defication hole and I'm stuck in the worst of it. I've prayed day and night. I've also took the step to get baptized but the devil is still riding me to my grave. I need a higher power to help me but I need the help of others to pray for me. I would cry but the tears are empty with no hope for coping. I can't deal with the pain anymore. I was recently put on suicide watch by the doctors and my counselor. It's …

Flourgirl was an OB member. She hasn't posted recently but anyway, her family and my family have been great friends since 1982. We received word today that Stacey (Flourgirl) dropped dead. She was at work and wasn't feeling well so she went home to rest. Her husband came home later and found her dead on the floor. It was such a shock as she was healthy, very energetic and didn't have any problems as far as we know. She would have turned 41 years old tomorrow. There will be an autopsy to determine what happened. Anyway, if you could remember her husband, Charles, her parents and her brother in prayer. They are all in shock right now and need the Lord's stren…

Night before last my wife's nephew shot and killed his self right in front of his dad & mom at about 9:30 PM. The had gone to bedroom where they were sleeping and took a gun out of the gun case, woke them up. Thru sleep filled eyes they saw Cody standing at the foot of their bed with the gun to his head, he made a comment all I'm nothing but trouble and the gun fired into his head. Just before this happened he had called over to his dad's father's house and asked his dads brother to meet him in the side yard by the trampoline. Brent went to the trampoline and was waiting for Cody and he heard a gunshot in his brothers house. Brent ran back to his dad and mom's house…

MOST CHRISTIANS DEFINE THEIR OWN THEOLOGY More than half say other faiths can also lead to salvation. [Excerpts] American individualism has made its imprint on Christianity. A sizable majority of the country's faithful no longer hew closely to orthodox teachings, and look more to themselves than to churches or denominations to define their religious convictions, according to two recent surveys. More than half of all Christians also believe that some non-Christians can get into heaven. "Growing numbers of people now serve as their own theologian-in-residence," said George Barna, president of Barna Group, on releasing findings of one of the polls on Jan. 12. In th…

I guess I have spring fever... What are some dream vacations you would like to take someday? I would like to go in with a few friends and family members and rent one of those beach houses on the Outer Banks in the early or late summer when there aren't crowds. The Outer Banks is chock-full of delightful places to go and things to see.

An editorial from the London Daily Mail Obama's Victory A victory for the hysterical Oprah Winfrey, the mad racist preacher Jeremiah Wright, the mainstream media who abandoned any sense of objectivity long ago, Europeans who despise America largely because they depend on her, comics who claim to be dangerous and fearless but would not dare attack genuinely powerful special interest groups. A victory for Obama-worshippers everywhere. A victory for the cult of the cult. A man who has done little with his life but has written about his achievements as if he had found the cure for cancer in between winning a marathon and building a nuclear reactor with his teet…

We've discussed this issue before in one manner or another but I do believe it's something that seriously needs addressing. Thankfully Bro Matt has provided us a Prayer Forum here at OB. Scripture tells us to share our burdens with one another and to pray for one another. When one looks in the Prayer Forum (whether members of onlookers) it becomes obvious that many prayer requests receive exceedingly few responses. Whether it's true or not that only a very few are praying, that gives the appearance of evil in that it looks as if hardly anyone is bothering to pray for these requests. I know some say they pray but don't respond (and I'm not questioning their stateme…
