Sometimes I have reservations about posting something which just occurred to me from daily Bible, during prayer, or from other Christian literature. God's disclosure to me I imagine is old hat to many of my brothers and sisters. Well God gave me the courage and I started typing (another arduous process for me). So, here it is a thread for the less than scholarly, less than immense, less than a doctrinal debate. Just a place to share and validate 1 John 4:1 those little whispers God gives to all of us as we actively and earnestly seek him. I'll start it off as an example and others may have their own to post. I was reading in Genesis 3 today. In particular, I was…

John 3 Verses 1 and 2 1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 1. “a ruler of the Jews” Most of us know that either Nicodemus was part of the Sanhedrin, or possibly a temple priest, and/or at the very least a well to do and respected member of the Pharisees. 2. “we know that thou art a teacher come from God” I had not noticed this part of verse 2 in reading John 3 before. Particularly the “we know” of this verse. I looked at a couple of c…

Did Abram marry Hagar? Genesis 16:3 And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife. Genesis 21:10 Wherefore she (Sarah) said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac. 1 Timothy 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. Genesis 21:12 And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sara…

Galatians 3 v 24 states that the law was our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ. Would you interpret that to mean that the law shows us how sinful we are and then we know our need of a Saviour? Or would you interpret it to mean that the law is in place "until Christ came"? Or a combination of the two interpretations?

"But when the people of the land shall come before the LORD in the solemn feasts, he that entereth in by the way of the north gate to worship shall go out by the way of the south gate; and he that entereth by the way of the south gate shall go forth by the way of the north gate: he shall not return by the way of the gate whereby he came in, but shall go forth over against it." Ezekiel 46:9 "he shall not return by the way of the gate whereby he came in" I can't believe that this was just for traffic control/flow. Does it have anything to do with teaching regeneration or sanctification?

If this has been discussed before let me know please... What is everyone's thinking about your main Bible being on your mobile device? For some this is heresy. We are trained to carry our (printed) Bible, mark our Bible, etc. etc. Some say reading off a cell phone or tablet is just not right. But wow... when you can have a complete Bible study system on your mobile device (phone/tablet) and indeed ALL you devices and sync them all. Having complete commentary sets and so many Bible study aids the "Mobile Bible" (study system) has so many advantages. What about you? - Do you think you could ever NOT carry a printed Bible? - Could you ever get …

It's hard to a decent KJV study bible these days. Someone recommend The Defenders Study Bible by Henry Morris, but believe it's out of print because the prices for it on Amazon are ridiculous. I have seen there is Henry Morris Study Bible now in KJV. Has anyone read it? If so would you recommend it, and why?

In my Quiet Time this morning I read Hebrews chapter 1. In verse 3 we read that Christ purged our sins "By Himself". These words are important as they teach that Christ purged away our sins without any help from us. We did not contribute anything in the way of good works or religious observances. However, the modern versions have removed these words and so, by implication, have downgraded one of the chief evidences in the Bible that salvation is a totally free gift. To be fair, the NKJV does keep these words in; but even then, they append a footnote that calls them into question. I would be interested to know what others think about this point.

In Genesis 6 v 3 we read that God's Spirit "will not always strive with man". I sometimes used to wonder what that meant. Then I heard a sermon from an evangelist based in N. Ireland named Alan Bartley. He preached a powerful sermon about how he believed that if people keep resisting the pull of the Holy Spirit, they may do it once too often and the Holy Spirit will withdraw from granting him any more conviction, thus leaving that person to die in his sins. I'm not sure if this is a true interpretation - can anyone enlighten me on this? We know that people do resist the Holy Spirit because Stephen says so in Acts 7 v 51.

I am going to be doing a series of short videos on things I call "wordly wisdom", basically short videos refuting popular sayings and comparing them to the Bible. here is a list of what I have, if you can add any please comment on this post: "We are all Gods children" "Judge not" "Follow your heart" "All paths lead to God" "The devil made me do it" "Live for now"/"eat drink and be merry" "Most people are good" "All religions teach basically the same thing" "Well that's your interpretation" "The Bible is written by man" "God made weed therefore it is good" "God made me this way" God is all forgiving

I've run into a little problem with online reference sites descriptions and maps of Paul's 2nd missionary journey. All the ones I look at say Tarsus was the first visit after leaving Antioch with Silas. It would make sense, since Tarsus is in line with Derbe and Lystra. I can't find any reference in the Bible for a stop or even passing through Tarsus. The scripture I'm looking at is Acts 15:40-Acts 16:1. Do any of you have an answer for where I can review the reference for a stop or visit at Tarsus on Paul's 2nd missionary journey?

2 Sam 14:25 But in all Israel there was none to be so much praised as Absalom for his beauty: from the sole of his foot even to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him. Absalom was a very handsome young man but he was also evil. Today celebreties and sports heros are often admired for their good looks but many lead desolute lives and some are downright evil. in films and books, the goody is usually good looking and the baddy is ugly, particularly westerns. In chilrens books it is the same, the hero or heroine is beautiful and the bad ones are not, as in the ugly sisters and the wicked witch. In life it is similar, disabled people are often …

Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell? Jesus!!!

Genesis 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. From the day God said this all families continued until a member was blessed by Isaac's descendants or Ishmael's descendants. Think about all the families wiped out when the Jews took their homeland the 1st time. Before that happened Abram or a descendant had been a blessing to them. Think of all the gentile peoples God kept a family member alive until a missionary told them the Good News of Jesus. Think of all the American Indians!!! God amazes me over and over.

Alan said - "I do appreciate your reading the thread carefully and am also glad that it appears we agree that Revelation chapter 4 is when the Judgement Seat of Christ occurs. Alan" And - "I will respond, but very quickly. I never said that Revelation chapter 4 and 5 is the Judgment Seat. Read my post carefully. Furthermore, I stated, twice, that the empahsis is on the throne of God and the Lord Jesus as the Lamb. Read my post carefully. The saints are throwing their crowns before the Lord Jesus is what the scriptures are emphasizing concerning the church. These crowns were earned rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ." …

My wife and I have been invited to lunch on Sunday by a couple who have just come out of an ecumenical church. They are keen gospel preachers and were surprised at the gospel preaching in our church as they were told that we were a cult because we do not join forces with the ecumenical churches. If the subject comes up I would like to be ready with scripture verses. I know there are many but my memory is not too good these days, and I can't recall many. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks David

I am currently working on an article about God's work with souls from birth to heaven. This is a working draft of the introduction/ summery. The Spiritual progression of human souls (Job 10:9-19, Psalm 139:13-16) It is a misconception that a soul is either a child of God or a child of the devil at birth, automatically destined to be saved or lost, or born a sinner. Rather for all of us it is a growth process. All start out innocent and then there is a process of growth that each soul must go thorough before one becomes a saint or sinner. (John 9:1-3, Romans 9:10-12) The reason no soul can be a sinner or child of the devil before birth i…

Hello. I'm not sure if this is a good place for this post to go, but I don't have access to the KJV thread... Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good Study Bible? The few that I have looked into have some questionable helps in them. I know that of course they are just "man's opinion" but are there any that are better than others????

The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD. ~ Proverbs 16:1 I just read this verse this morning, and praise God for it because it comforts me greatly at the moment. I looked up the Matthew Henry Commentary on Biblehub.com and found out that every other bible rendering on the page besides the American King James Bible says that it is up to man to prepare his heart, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. So blessed to own a copy of the King James!
