John the Baptist was beheaded while Jesus walked on this earth' date=' but we see nothing of Jesus protesting this nor do we see Him trying to change the law. Now that was a grave sin by the goverment. What we see is Jesus going about spreading the Gospel. Very good example for us to follow, in fact it is the example we are to follow and its the only example we should follow.[/quote']

Hmmm...seems to me there are a number of other things the Bible tells us we are to do...

Amen - bzmomo7!! Well said! There are certainly more people in the world that disagree with all of this sick behavior. Where are they!? "Separation of Church and State" to my knowledge - is in NO official document! This was made up in the 1960's by man.

I also agree 100% that our government was set up as a Republic... NOT a democracy. These Washington, DC bafoons have it all backwards. They have spread this evilness ALL across the map and the world. It's no wonder our government still operates. *sigh* Although - soon that will come to a HUGE halt!

God bless,

Molly

Yes, but under OUR government we have been granted the right to protest and try to change the laws.

I really believe Christ came when he did and the apostles wrote when they did to show us Christians throughout history how to behave in a worse case scenario. But at this present time we do not live in Rome under slavery.

Because under Roman law you couldn't protest (well, you could but you'd loose your head). Under our laws we can protest. The Constitution has been designed to allow that. Therefore, we wouldn't be breaking any laws by protesting peaceably. By your reasoning you would have to say it would be wrong for a believer to protest slavery because Jesus didn't do it.

As several good pastors regularly point out, just because something is allowable doesn't mean it's the best thing to do. There are not always clear cut "this is great" and "this is terrible" choices. Sometimes we confront choices which cover the spectrum; Best, Good, Fair, Okay, Poor, Bad, Horrible. God directs us to do that which is BEST, nothing else.

When it comes to confronting something we must always do so in light of Scripture. Sure, we have the legal right to protest (though in many cases there are now restrictions and hoops to jump through in order to be able to do this and still be considered legal by our government). The question that must be asked is whether protesting is the BEST course of action or if God has a better plan for His people.

John, we are so indoctrinated in the America way that even most Christians go along whole heartily with the America way thinking its God's way.

1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

1 Tim 2:1-3 (KJV)

This verse not only goes for the king, but all who are in authority. Some think with the government we live under it changes our behavior, but it doesn't, not the least bit. Protesting, whether it be a king, a president, a governor, a mayor, or whatever, if your protesting your not living a quite and peaceable life. A quite and peaceable life is what be acceptable to God. God's way of doing all things seems very strange to mankind, but if we will practice them we will soon feel proper walking in them and it will become our way of life. After all, we are to be a peculiar people.

Jerry, I don't see your point. You can do these things above and still protest as long as you do it peaceably. In fact, prayer and protest have played a big part in the comfortable life you live today.

True. You need to proceed with caution when something isn't spelled out in the Bible. But I still don't see anything stopping us from protesting in a peaceable manner. As long as you don't get entangled in these things or break the law when doing them. If someone builds an porn shop next to your church are you telling me you wouldn't protest it?

Amazing isn't it, most protest are peaceful, but all do not turn out that way, in fact many of them turn our deadly, how would you enjoy being a part of a protest that turned out deadly? Fact is you never know which protest will turn out peaceful or deadly until the protest is over. Just because we have the right to do something does not mean it good,edifying, and the proper thing to do.

And it does not say protesting is good and acceptable in the sight of God and it does say that we might live a quite and peaceful life, protesters are not usually quite, they love to make noise to draw attention to them selves.

I might add, a very good way to protest would be by praying and going about doing the work Christ laid out before us.
