What do you look for?

What is it that you look for in person that you would date and consider marrying.

Most importantly Saved.

Honestly I have not started looking yet but here is what I think you should look for.

Serving God, in a good Church.
Should be one that brings you closer to God, doesn't drive you away.
Willing to do what God calls you to do.

Everything goes back to the fact that she has to be serving God because if she isn't she will only drive you away from doing what you are supposed to do.

Obvisoly I put what I would look for in a girl but the girls should look for the same thing and if they know that they are supposed to be marrying a guy who is a pastor, missionary, etc they should not marry the opposite.

It's a good idea to look for somebody you couldn't be lukewarm in order to lead spiritually. For example, if she's someone who has been saved a while and is devoted to God, and you want to marry her and be a spiritual leader, then you'd have to step up in your personal walk with God.

Also look for:
Somebody who is excited about having children... After all, that's one of the major points of marriage, from Genesis 1:28--"Be fruitful, and multiply."
Somebody who cringes at the mere thought or mention of the word "divorce."
Somebody who believes the same things you do.
"A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband." -Pro. 12:4
Somebody of similar intelligence... Eventually worse comes to worse and a couple has to actually talk.
The light of Christ in her countenance--worth innumerable words. Stay away from anyone who's trying to attract you by her makeup or clothing.
A nice blind girl (if you look like me, anyhow). :tum
Somebody who speaks with grace. "She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness." -Pro. 31:26

And so on and so forth.

- She must be genuinely saved. This is a veto factor - without this, don't even consider.
- She should be seeking to serve God faithfully and that will be displayed by her life... factors include: her character (another veto factor), how she dresses, lifestyle, attitude towards work etc. etc.
- Must be like-minded.
- Other positive factors not mentioned here are good to have, but not considered essential.

A good question to ask. Do you think social class difference will play a part in dating? Or rather, what does Scripture say?

Well I hope I am responding in the right place. I thought it was for guys at first, and then I saw some other young ladies on this one, so I will comment as well.

First of all, I would like to say Christ will bring me that right one when His timing is right! He is preparing me for the young Godly man he has for me, and I am just serving Him and keep on serving Him!

With that said, I am praying that God will send me a young man that is first of all saved by His Precious Blood! I pray that God will send me someone that is called into full time ministry according to His will! I look for someone who is bold, and knows what He stands on and stands firmly on the Precious Word Of God. ( KJV 1611) Someone who is not willing to back down for what is right. A Godly man who has a backbone, and willing to say the truth! A young man who is Godly and walks closely the Lord! A young man who is willing and surrendered unto whatever God tells him to do. Someone who is tender hearted, and has a burden for lost souls. Someone that holds and has the same convictions that I do. Someone who is going to be a spiritual leader in the home. Someone who raises our kids ( Meaning that we raise our kids together) in a Godly Home! Someone who is seperated and grounded in the Word of God! A prayer Warrior! A servant for Christ! Someone that has a desire to live for Christ! Someone who ( we together) have daily devotional as a family and with our kids, and raise our kids in a seperated home! Someone who has a Christ like attitude in all that they do! I pray that God will send me a young man, that when trials and hard times come along, that we trust God even more, and grow spiritually to the Lord, as well as grow closer together. I pray that for someone who will love the Lord unconditionally, as well as me. I pray for a young man who acts like a gentlemen! I just pray that God will send me a young man according to His will! Not mine, but His!

Well I hope I didn't put too much on here.. There are other aspects, but I just pray that God get the Glory of All! And His will be done!
