I was thinking that the difference in pricing in various states...might be due to the "cost of living". Does this sound accurate? Although, who really knows. :puzzled:

Sometimes transportation cost can effect the price of gas, but one main thing that does is states and or cities that require all gas sold in their area to be of a special blend to keep down pollution. Californian is a very good example of this, their gas is always higher that everyone else's.

Also cars that are sold out in California have to meet stricter requirements than the other states.

When they talk about how we should be glad our gas isn't as high as England or S. Korea, they ought to look @ the difference in distances - all of S. Korea is about the size of Indiana (must be rough in Austrailia though). Even here in the US : 200 mi gets you from Boston to NYC or NYC to DC, it only takes you halfway through Ala, out here it's 150 miles to Home Depot or a hospital w/ a cardio unit and 185 mi to an airport that can handle an airliner (even DC-9 or MD-88 size). And to think a lot of us didn't believe it would ACTUALLY get over the $.50/gal mark - in most states the state & fed tax on it is that high.

I have noticed that there are fewer people coming to all services at our church lately (not due to people being on vacation) I also ran into another local Pastor and his wife last night that we know and he said the same thing about his church and that things are so tight financially at their church right now because of the recession that they are not going to seek to replace their youth minister (who took a job elsewhere to be closer to family) for quite some time. Our church is also having to sacrifice (and took up a special collection once) to keep our bus ministry up and running. Anyone else see gas prices really negatively impacting their church??

Them there is the pastor I spoke to at Wal-Mart one Monday. He said many of his members were not attending church services and he found that he could catch them at Wal-Mart on Monday mornings. He told me, I just talked with 2 different ones, I asked them, "Why is it your able to come down here on Monday morning and walk all over this big building from one end to the other, fro the front to the back, but yet unable to attend church where you can set in a comfortable pew?"

Did I tell you that the pastor was walking on crutches inside of Wal-Mart, not riding on one of those scooters? Did I tell you the pastor told me he used the pulpit to hold him up to preach the Gospel while his crutches leaned against it?

We had to rework 9 of our bus routes. We aren't running those 9 buses, but the kids are still being picked up (cars and vans) 'cause I guess it is cheaper on gas that way (diesel is so expensive). We are thankful that we didn't have to quit picking up the kids, though.
