Fundamentals= The foundational doctrines of the church in all matters of faith and practice. Usually they run from about 5 to 20 of them.

Many Baptist churches are dropping the term because even the Pope professes to believe in at least five of them. Some because they don't like the negative connotations of the word.

Today remove fundamental, tomorrow remove the baptist name, from its church. Then slowly remove Holy, for the title on the Bible. Then we are in trouble...

Words like "baptist" and "holy" are in the Bible. Never remove them.

It is hard to add a new name to a establishment, and easy to remove it. Some church are using their own pastor name. Hey brother, have you ever visited Pastor Tony church. Example: They never mention baptist at all.

I never even heard the phrase "fundamental" until I l left Alaska and moved south. The name I always heard was. "Independent Baptist". Even some of the colleges we learned at were called "Independent Baptist", without the word, "fundamental".

I was raised in an Independent, Fundamental, Baptist church in Pekin, IL. I went to and IFB Bible college (Fellowship Baptist College at the Averyville Baptist Church in E. Peoria, IL) and then to a second Baptist Bible college, Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Watertown, Wisconsin. My wife and I both attended FBC, and then Twin Oaks Baptist College in E. Peoria, IL in the 90s. All were IFB. We attended IFB churches exclusively until June of 2000, when the Lord led us to an SBC church. We've attended three SBC churches, including the one that we're in now, and it is independent, fundamental and autonomous, as all SBC churches are. We also, after a split in 2005 of our SBC church, helped start a "Community" church, which was Independent and fundamental until the pastor resigned and the assistant took over. Just because a church contains the name "Baptist" doesn't mean a thing. We were well acquainted with a "Baptist" church that also had "Catholic" in the name. They had some doctrine that was strange to us, so we didn't go but the two times our friends had asked us to.

They also don't go around "poking the bear," Morales. If it was a reference to me, and I certainly hope it wasn't, you KNOW that I have talked about Baptists many time, which would make you a prevaricator.

The reason many Baptists are dropping the term fundamental is because they are replacing it with the phrase "bible believing" or "KJV bible believing" to emphasis they believe every word is pure and without error and not that only a few fundamental doctrines were preserved.

Then others are dropping it because they are moving towards being non-denomination.
