In this day of apostasy it is important for Christians to be armed for the warfare. To have the breastplate of righteousness, having your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation. And most important above all is the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Now coming to that point! What do you carry into everyday battle as a good soldier for Jesus The Christ. A Butterknife or a Sword?

Butterknife Is any modern version of the Bible (NIV,NKJV,NASB,NLT,etc)

Sword is referring the King James Version which hasnt changed in the past 397 years

God bless

This was suppose to be a poll, but for some reason or another I no longer have that option.

Reminds me of when a friend and I used to practice memory verses while we walked the track. He used the NIV and he would always say the verse first to which I would then respond, "And now for what the real Bible says." :Green

So you guys don't like this guy? I haven't heard much of his stuff, the peeing one is kind of funny, but is there anything "false" about him, or anything like that? Is he just not legit?

I'm pretty sure I have the Sword of the Spirit. I happen to use the NIV mostly, and use the NASB as well. When I'm feeling slightly poetic, I'll use the KJV, but that doesn't happen too often.

You are pretty confused.
You have a butterknife, if that.

Mr. Dude

May I encourage you to study the issue with an open mind and see what evidence bears out. Before you start, ask the Lord for wisdom mentioned in James 1

1. Read about Westcott and Hort, they are the fathers of your NIV (and other modern versions)
2. Read about the KJV translators. You will be suprised at the difference.
3. Lay all three of your bibles next to each other and read. Then ask why they dont read the same, words removed, verses removed form the Modern versions.

I say this because I was a hard core NKJV guy. I had no problem with any modern version. I was challenged to study the issue. I did so, fully intending to prove the KJV wrong. It only took two weeks for me to see that man thought he could improve on God's word. KJV, thats the one for me.

Also, the modern versions destroy the doctrine of unity because they change God's Word, and dont say the same thing.

Yep, threw my butterknife away a long time ago.

Not a criticism, just an encouragement to study it out. :thumb

Mr. Dude,

I am a KJVO man, but as you have been through the forums I'm sure you know all the reasons that have been laid out that we are KJVO men. Let me give a few reasons why you should definitely not, under no circumstances be an NIV man.

http://www.newscorp.com/

First of all Zondervan (Seller and copyright holder of NIV) is owned by NewsCorp Intl., owner of Fox networks and Harper Collins Publishing.

http://www.harpercollins.com/books/9780380015399/Satanic_Bible/index.aspx

Harper Collins publishes Anton La Vey's Satanic Bible.

The conclusion we can draw from this is, every time a NIV is bought, we are encouraging the company that sells the satanic bible to grow.

Secondly, Virginia Ramey Mollenkott, who is an activist for feminism and the Christian Lesbian movement, help to translate the NIV.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Mollenkott

http://www.wayoflife.org/fbns/virginiamollenkott.htm

So as you can see, from it's birth, the NIV was forged as a corrupt Satan headed Bible, and what's sad is a lot of the Good Christians who helped translate this abomination unto the Lord don't even know it.

I have an NIV/KJV Parallel Bible. I see these two translations side by side everyday, and they basically say the same thing. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the Life, No one comes to the Father except through Him. In some points where the King James is a weaker translation, the NIV helps out ALOT. Besides that, I can actually read the NIV. Such as that passage in 2Corinthians that I just plain can't read in King James...

2Corinthians 6:11-13 O ye Corinthians, our mouth is open unto you, our heart is enlarged. Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own bowels. Now for a recompence in the same, (I speak as unto my children,) be ye also enlarged.

I read over that about 5 times, and still had NO clue what this was even talking about... But it's not really that big of an issue... To me, the best Bible in the world is the Bible you READ!
