Which best describes your position on the KJV/KJVO/TR issue?

  1. 1. Which best describes your position on the KJV/KJVO/TR issue?

    • 1. I believe the King James Version is a faithful translation while also believing that there are other translations out there, including foreign language translations and Critical Text translations that are equally faithful. For instance, the NASB is a faithful translation to the texts it was translated from. The textual issue is as a non-issue. I use the KJV because I believe it to be the best translation although I don't have a problem studying from other versions to gain differing or a deeper perspective.

    • 2. I believe that the Received Text is the accurate text and any Bible faithfully translated from it is God's preserved Word. I am not opposed to a new English (or any other language) translation from the TR as long as it is faithful and accurate.

    • 3. I believe that the KJV is the only pure translation for English speakers and that nothing will ever replace the KJV in English no matter how archaic the 1611 English becomes.

    • 4. I believe that the KJV is the only pure translation for English speakers. While accepting translations in other languages, I would still believe that the KJV is superior to all the rest.

    • 5. I believe that the King James Version is the only true Bible in the world, that it - itself - was given by verbal inspiration of God in 1611, and that all nations should learn 1611 English in order to have the one, pure Bible.

It is a huge leap in logic and pride to think that everyone in the world should be required to learn 1611 English (which NO ONE speaks today as their common language) in order to read the Bible. That kinda harks back to the days when the Bible was only available in Latin and only the Catholic hierarchy could read it, doncha think? Let's be thankful we have the Bible in our own language and seek to get it to other nations in their own language.

In Acts 2, the people visiting Jerusalem were amazed and probably very pleased that they heard the Apostles message in their own language, every tongue wherein they were born! God is all about getting things on the "bottom shelf so you can reach it". He didn't require them to be fluent in the language of the Apostles before hearing His word. Musta worked. 3000 of them received Jesus as Savior!

Oh please... :roll

Sorry, some just aren't as extremist as you Ruckmanites! Taken in context, the other Jerry's statement makes perfect sense and most members on these boards would agree with it.

Jerry, how can you agree with that?? The KJV has been around for 400 years and we don't need another English Bible! What would another 200 years matter? If you agree with this.. you might as well start translating this new "pure" Bible now! You might become famous in 200 years for translating the newest Bible for IFBs! I'm sure people in the 2200s will still be able to read English from the year 2008... so go for it!

I wouldn't call that "King James Only," personally.

Me neither... I would call it (and myself) TR only. The King James is simply the best translation currently standing from the TR, and the only one easily obtained (which is good, since it's the best!). :wink

Jerry...if this is referring to me? I just use, "plain old" common sense. The KJV 1611 AV tells me this...not, man! I will tell you, that I feel very blessed these past couple of days on OB. As you know, I grew up in the RCC...and, did a 180 degree to the IFB. There was no in between. :thumb I praise the Lord Jesus Christ for this HUGE blessing. I have His complete and ONLY truth! I pray for other IFB's around the USA who do NOT defend the KJV 1611 AV, wholeheartedly.

BTW, I am not an extremist. In fact, you will find that I will take "everything" into consideration...with an unsaved person as well as a saved person. I consider the person's needs and wants (as Christ would). I don't, however, compromise on God's Holy Word. Jesus Christ wants me to take a firm stance on this! I thought that was the whole purpose of being an IFB? I guess, I am sadly mistaken? :sad As far as the gun issue? I am pro-gun...as EVERYONE knows. Christ ensures protection for all of His children, as well. :amen:

Usually when a person quotes someone else' date=' they are referring to that person. Jerry quoted something KJB_Princess wrote so he was referring to her, not you.[/quote']

Hi Bakershalfdozen. He said "Ruckmanites" and he knows that I like watching the Dr. Ruckman's TV show. I have also listened to his tapes from the 1950's. I stated this in another thread. That is why I need clarification? As I said, I support the Lord Jesus Christ, and His KJV 1611 AV. There is NO substitute of the truth! :thumb For any IFB to think this is unbelievable. Again, I am blessed. :thumb

Hi Kevin. Sorry, it is RT, not TR. I don't even get into this stuff. It is mindless fodder for my brain. :smile

Yes, the Textus Receptus. Whatever that thing is called. That is man made? Am I correct? "Logical and proven"? To me that is the KJV 1611 AV. These Bible corruptions are what is leading to "blind faith" that "leads to blind people". I guess I don't see that? :pray How much "proof" do you guys need? Proof is in the KJV 1611 AV. :thumb Again, why is it that the KJV 1611 AV is the ONLY Bible that doesn't need copyright permission from it's author? Hmmm? Could that be b/c it's author is the Holy Spirit?

Hi KJV_Princess...It sounds like some Latin "mumbo jumbo". Just like that Latin Vulgate (Vulgar) Bible the RCC put out waaay after God's Word had been inspired by the Holy Spirit. I heard enough Latin in the RCC to last me a lifetime. :thumb I can't handle that chanting. The New Age stuff comes from that chanting. You should see the Yoga people around hear. It is so sad. :sad

I agree that if folks continue using the KJB and continue teaching their children and others with and to use the KJB, it will still be read by many in 200 years.

Also, now that I think about it, how can some people say the dumbed down masses of today which can't read a comic book can read and understand the KJB yet in 200 years the people of that day won't be able to? That seems inconsistent.

Hi John. :smile As you know, I grew up in a very affluent school district. However, by today's standards, I would have been considered "Learning Disabled", in the area of reading. I was sent to the "slow" learner's class, as a child, and struggled with reading for many years. I had no comprehension skills for a very long time. I could say the words, fluently, but...I had no idea what I was saying. You know I did NOT grow up in a Christian home, as well. A good, moral, RCC home, but, sadly NO Word of God. :sad Thankfully, I was in a great school system...and, I got the tutoring that I desperately needed. I commend the public schools her for that. :thumb

One of the biggest reasons that I became a school teacher was because of my reading handicap. Although, the CMSD does NOT do tracking, I taught many children that were learning disabled, themselves. I also, had many gifted children in my classroom throughout the years, that could assist these kids. Of course, I had those "average" children. :smile I used many methods to teach, but, my most favorite method was the "Co-operative Learning Technique". I believe we learn best from oneanother!

I guess, what I am trying to say...Is that if I can understand the KJV 1611 AV...then, anyone can. :thumb As I have stated, it is written, so that the average 3rd grader can comprehend it. I pray that others can see this truth, and, MOST IMPORTANTLY...stand by this truth. :pray The Lord holds faithful to His Word...and, God is the same...yesterday, today, and tomorrow. As we know, Satan is the "Author of Confusion" NOT the Lord Jesus Christ. Many blessings...OB brothers and sisters in Christ.:amen:

Yes, we learn from one another, we do this at church, but many will not take the time to attend church services every time its available. They either sya they don't have time for it or just don't need it.

Setting thru many preaching services, attending many Bible study classes at church thru the years, is where I got much of my learning.

Not to dismiss my pastor that took me under his wing for 2 years in the mid 80's and taught me for 2 years outside of our church attendance. Not to dismiss the many nights I set up here at home to 1:00 am TO 3:00 AM studying the Bible on my own. But both of these were just an extension of learning from others in church services.

23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Heb 10:23-25 (KJV)

Yes, being faithful in church attendance helps one very much to have a love for God's Word and it helps them stay in the Word too. My church family has always been one of my best encourages.
