I today's climate where everyone is expected to appease and placate all others (well, except for true Christians and conservatives), any business must meet our expectations or they are apt to be sued. It's just to much to expect a person to do business across the street where everything is the way they prefer rather than going to a business that doesn't meet all their expectations and then sue.

Well, the point about her kids is well taken. If they are autistic, she may not want to bring them into the store, and definitely won't want to leave them alone. But...she could go to the other stores that accomodate her. Also - the McD's here has a screen that flashes what you've ordered...I think they all do, now, don't they?

*sigh* Truly methinks this isn't about her being spurned...she knows about the woman who won a wad for spilling McD's coffee on herself - stupidly - so why not? :loco

Yes, there are options out there and try as we might, there is no way to accomodate everyone at every place. It's a shame that in the push for "equality" so much stupidity has come about.

Putting aside the lawsuit for a second, it was ridiculously petty to insist that the women place her order through the speaker system or else not use the drive-through at all. It would have been no bother to take her order at the window, as evidenced by the fact that she's been granted that option at all the other McDonald's she'd been to.

Step 1. Man at other end of speaker steps two feet to the left so that he is in front of the window and then says the same thing he would have said into the microphone anyway.

Step 2. Woman outside drives car forward so that her face is in on the other side of the window and answers the same questions she would have done at the speaker.

Step 3. Rest of transaction is carried out as normal.

That's true...however, if we sued every store that treats us badly, America would be a bigger mess than it already is. We've all encountered rude or downright mean waiters or waitresses or store clerks...or people who treat us unfairly, or give us dirty looks....we can't just sue...just go to the stores that we like. Simple as that.

I've seen signs at drive-thru windows informing people to ask for a braille menu if needed and offering services for other disabilities at the drive-thru window. I don't think this woman should get millions for this but I do think this particular restaurant should be more courteous.

No doubt there is room for complaint but like you, I don't think suing for millions is the right answer.

I know at the McDonalds near us ,that the drive through has a sign up .The sign says if you are hearing impared please drive to the window to place your order .

(on a side note I hate those things because you can't understand them )

I rarely go to fast food places anymore, but I never use the drive-thru as I've never liked them. Most often I can park my car, walk in and order and be back in my car before those in the drive-thru lane even get to the window.
