Have you ever heard of the TV Guardian and if you have are you using it?

The TV Guardian is a device that connects to your cable TV, VCR, DVD player, ect. It filters out foul language from live TV and pre-recorded movies. I believe a game console can also be hooked up as well. It does not work with TVs that have VCRs or DVD players built into them. They must be separate units. It uses the closed captioning feature of programs and movies to elimate the foul language.

We purchased ours last year for about $100. It is well worth the investment.

I've seen it, and it does really work. Sure, you miss big portions of the audio if there's foul language, but that's why it's best if you use it on a movie that only has a few cuss words in it. :lol

Years ago, we had actually thought about looking into one, but then we decided instead to stop watching tv pretty much altogether. We come to the conclusion that while cuss words are bad, there is a lot more that is equally bad if not worse..........and if a show has enough bad language that it needs to be filtered, we figured we ought not be watching it because the rest of its content is probably trash as well.

People often say "what would we do w/o a TV?", but it's amazing how much time it frees up. My children LOVE to read, they still enjoyed playing games as a family even through their teen years, and all sing and play instruments. 5 kids, 12 instruments (some as few as 2 each, one as many as 8). People who ask "what do ya'll do?" also comment "I wish we could play (fill in the instument)!". 1+1=? Just a thought.

:amen: If the program is bad enough a filter is needed then it's not something we need to be watching.

Also a point to consider, most often when a word is bleeped out or filtered, it's obvious what was edited out and the thought of the edited word makes its way into our mind.

Very true! We went for several years without TV. Now we have the few channels that come with the Dish Network Family Pack, but what we watch is rather limited. So much time is freed up and we accomplish so much more than we would if we were parked in front of a TV several hours a day.

I've read almost 20 Christian books already this year and my children love to read (as does wife).

A TV show or movie that has only 1 cuss word needs to be filtered.

By the way, you should never assume that something is trash. You might be trashing a treasure that has a small defect.

Then why do you have Dish Network? You cannot tell me that 100% of the programs that you watch on Dish Network do not contain any foul language.

I disagree. Cuss words have never entered my mind using the TV Guardian. But they did when I heard them on TV.

We limit what we watch I usually like to night going to watch America Got Talent. I like how they buzz people off stage. Then after Church tommrow I am going to watch the Baby Borrowers. It shows teens what it's like to take care of a child.

We have the Family Pack, which is only a few channels. The reason we have this is because it's cheap, it doesn't come with the horrible channels, and we wanted the Weather Channel and Fox News. Other than those and a few cartoons and older programs once in awhile, the TV isn't watched much and we don't watch foul programs.
