Happy Christian,

Amen and amen! Great preaching by a great man of  God. Pastor Mike Allison is a man of God who has not changed a whit from, "the old paths."  Pastor Allisons personal, and ministerial, life is a living example of godly living in these last days.

Thank you very much for the sharing the last video conference there at Fairhaven.

Harlot church's are usually works based.  Social gospels and activism.  Christian activism has caused great harm to the cause of Christ.  In my opinion.  We were not told to be activists.  However we are to preach the Gospel.   I agree with him completely in rebuking and reproving those that teach unsound doctrine however.  To people that claim Jesus. Claiming to be congregations.

I'll tell you why 1timothy.  We were at a big a very large,  festival this weekend soulwinning.  In the city.  Where a lot of these church's have a big presence.  We were hanging around a United Methodist outdoor food table buying things.  Water etc.  I picked up on that works business.  They were using the funds for orphans in Costa Rica.   The RCC is the same way.  Pat Robertson and others were really impressed that the RCC were the first people on the abortion issue.  I don't know how true that is.  I don't like him very much.  That's my opinion of course.

But they really seem to sweat life and eternal life with their causes.   Hoping when they reach the end.  It all adds up for them.  Like some Muslim lol trying to get trying to reach his prayer wall by noon.  After seeing those United Methodists now I'm not so misled as to what harlot means.  lol.  In fact I was musing over going to evangelize their larger church's.  They seem to consolidate their statements of faith.  In ruling bodies.  I don't think ruling bodies are wise.  Let scripture tell what's right and what's wrong.

A little lost as to the topic at hand, but I do know most Methodists around here have a works based means of salvation. The teaching basically amounts to the idea that Christians must be really good, as good as they can be, if they want to go to heaven because if they are not, or they do something really bad before they die, they won't be allowed into heaven.

As for the social gospel and activism, the two aren't always the same even tho they can both lead folks astray. The main concept of the social gospel today has far more akin with a mix of political liberalism and volunteerism. For many this mixes with a works based salvation, which helps bring in the volunteers since they believe that earns them many good points toward heaven. The social gospel typically says to keep quiet about the Gospel of Scripture, don't actually witness or try to help someone come to Christ; instead the social gospel is all about doing good deeds, such as working in a soup kitchen, taking supplies to the needy, teaching school to the poor, working to end poverty (even tho Jesus said plainly the poor will always be with us). Such social gospel works are often done through liberal organizations.

Activism can be a part of that since for many the social gospel includes compelling the government to spend more on social programs (more welfare...more food stamps, free lunches, free cell phones, free health care, free schooling, free housing, etc.), often coupled with calls for increases in taxes for the sake of funding more social programs.

There is also activism in the sense of protesting abortions, or also those who witness near abortion providers. Some get caught up in politics at the expense of sharing the Gospel or living for Christ. Some actually work together through their church or other Christians to actually share the Gospel with the needy while also providing what help they can. There are many things that sometimes are called "activism" and they can vary from the biblical to the worldly.

We do best, according to Scripture, to read, learn and obey the Word of God as given.

I thought that was something like I just said.  I guess not.  You rob the poor.  God's going to hear it.  Some people don't believe that part of the bible and think its moot.  Doesn't apply to today.  Or its simply gone away.  I don't listen to Rush much.  But wealth transfer and all the other things that are going on just might be the result of not doing what God admonishes. Some people call that robbery.  Wealth transfer.  However no one seems to talk about holding back on the struggling poor.  The whole council of God.  Not someone else's council either.   No one likes talking about it.  They never seem to.  Not my words.  They are God's.  I'd say God's admonishment there in James.  Might solve a lot of problems for everyone all the way around.  I love the Word and what it says.  Not what the most popular trend in some congregations is.  The whole council of God.  Even to the well off in congregations.  I love them to.  Enough to tell them.

There are all kinds of "wealth transfer" so not sure what you are referring to there.

When it comes to helping the poor, that's something Christ called individual Christians and local churches to be involved in. We are not to rely upon, or even expect governments to be involved or take the lead in these matters. To whatever extent some governments do provide help to the poor and needy that can be good to an extent, but such doesn't remove the call upon us as Christians and churches (assemblies of believers) from doing what God has called us to do.

The poor and needy are to be one of our (Christians) priorities for taking the Gospel to and providing what help we can to meet their needs.

Well ok then.  Charity doesn't mean giving to the poor.  As that is addressed in the verse if I give all I have to the poor.  Charity means Jesus death and resurrection on the cross to us.  That's what it means to me.  Some people want to ignore what James says on holding back on the poor.  Or they don't remember.  They will work.  However it becomes a long drawn out thing.  Bible calls it robbery holding wages. The really interesting part is.  That the Bible believing poor seem to understand that.  I mean if I was a Pastor.  Which I am not.  I would preach that.  Making it very clear what God wants.  I don't think that's ever going to be solved in the outside world.  Then again lol.  I'm not a Pastor so I guess I don't have to worry about that.

Given the choice of being a good conservative and fighting for the social causes put forward.  Ignoring the whole council of God in the process.  I'll choose the whole council of God every single time.  No matter who it offends.  In the congregations.
