Ok so Fox News, being the sex lovers they are, like to keep us updated on Hugh Hefner and his "girls".

I read it only because I find it so intriguing that the Mormons get arrested and their kids taken away for polygamy...

YET...

Ol' boy Hugh can sleep with as many girls, live with as many girls, the dirty gross old man, as he wants, and its acceptable. People can marry and divorce as many times as they want, and its acceptable. You can marry a man in some states now, if you are a man....or vice versa...and its acceptable.

Yet the Mormons do their thing, and they raid the compound and take away kids. Why not raid the "Playboy compound"?

Oh yeah...Hugh is not "religious". Guess it makes a bit difference.

Funny how sin is only wrong if you are religious. I mean, I don't see anyone legalizing polygamy like they are pushing for gay marriage. Why? Because the only people who even care about marriage along with polygamy are the Mormons..and they are religious...so it doesn't matter.

Yet people can shack up and have eight different kids from eight different relationships and its fine.

GRRRR this country is a mess!

I've had 4 "couples" quit coming to the church (no, they weren't "members") because I had the audacity in one message to call shacking up (common-law marriage, whoreing around, whatever term you want to use) SIN. Another person in the church said I had "run people off".

You know that there is "consecutive" polygamy, don't you? In our culture, it has been identified as having one spouse (using that term to define the live-ins, too) at a time...leaving that spouse (or live-in) and getting another....

Divorce has been called consecutive polygamy, as has this lifestyle of living sexually with one person after another.

good for you..

because I've always found it unfair that we make a big deal out of gays, but ignore shacking up.. I mean, we freak out whenever we see gay movies or see gays on TV... but when it came to shacking up or any kind of sex before marriage, we tend to ignore it. I never seen people protest or complain about any love movies.

Just the way they treated the Mormon families in contrast to how the average loose young person lives their life today in America shows gross, gross bias towards religion.

Not saying the Mormons are right...but its definitely the pot calling the kettle black...

The taking the kids away part was also a horrible overreaction.

Reading the article I saw a pic of Hugh with "his girls" and I can't imagine how people cannot find that utterly disgusting. This man should be sitting reading the paper and watching his grandchildren play games....not...the filth he is doing. And what pretty girls will do for money and fame....ugh.

I still say the Mormons were horribly abused...the women and children anyway.

It's like you said... it's because Hugh Hefner isn't doing it for religious reasons. Unfortunately a lot of men wish they could have what that dirty old man has. It's because so many men are addicted to porn and think so many perverted thoughts... they don't think it's disgusting what Hugh is doing.

Here is the difference...and it has nothing to do with religion.

With the FDLS compound, the leader has enagaged in massive fraud. They get married in they eyes of the church, but not in the eyes of the governemnt because polygamy is illegal. When these women get pregant, they qualify for government welfare. Why? Because they are single, the income of their "spiritual husband" is not counted. When they have children, they get more welfare. Who gets the checks once cashed? Well.....the husband. These men drive around in fancy cars, etc., and put their wives in compounds and minimize expenses.

Furthermore, the issue of underage children are involved. If they were not defrauding the government and if they were not giving children to be married, the government would not care so much. After all, it would be just consenting adults, members of a weird cult.

Whith Hugh, he is sleeping with consenting adults. He is not defrauding the governement by using them to get welfare checks. He is not producing many children (I'm sure he has had a vasectomy). He is not seeking to marry and indoctrinate minors.

In once case, you have a potential danger to children and fraud against the government (that is why the FBI wanted this guy for so long), and in the other, consenting adults, no children, no fraud.

There are TONS of people every day committing fraud against the government, and abuse against their children, who were not treated like the Mormons were treated. You'll find it in just about every inner city, and then some.

I know too many men that go one woman to another.. and keep having babies.

welfare only cover each household.. So anyone live with them, they have to report it. But single mothers have let their boyfriend live with them for a little while, which is no different than what the mormon church are doing.

I don't see how they can really abuse the system any more than people who keep having babies so they can keep their welfare check.

and last time I check, having babies are not illegal.. unless you want to do the China's way.

Warren Jeffs is an evil man that has raped children, stolen money, and exercises extraordinary control over his followers. Read this article:

http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/2005-12- ... -Faithful/

These articles will give you an idea about how dangerous this man is. I am so happy they caught him.

I am, too. And I'm sure all the others are. What he's done is vile.

I think, though, the point Kita was making is that, at it's root, what Hefner does with all his sexual partners is very similar to Mormonism...lots of women.

Oh I'm not denying the guy should be in jail.... I'm just saying look at what they did to the women and children, but on the other hand they ignore the same exact behavior in so many other "non religious" people.

If Heffner did this to children, he would be under government investigation too. This is not about religion, it is about the fact that Jeffs had sex with children, and ordered children to have sex with other men.

This is why the government took note and pursued this. Furthermore, when Jeffs owned the town in Utah, he divered public funds to his pockets....a public fraud.

I don't think this had to do with religion. Religion just happend to be involved.

Polygamy was originally outlawed back when America was governed by Christians and/or Christian principles.

The only reason "god" told the Mormon leaders to drop polygamy was because Utah wouldn't be allowed into the United States until they stopped preaching polygamy.

Today, there are some quiet movements to make polygamy legal; just as there are quiet movements to make consensual adult/child sex legal. In both of these cases they are waiting for homosexuals to gain full legal sexual rights so they will have precedent as well as equality claims to fight with in the courts.

Many legal experts have already stated that if homosexuals are given full legal rights under the constitution then virtually every other sexual "group" will eventually have to be given the same rights.
