They are talking helicopter type not plane type.
It will descend vertically to your doorstep - no runway required,
No parachute required.
precise positioning.

It would be very addicting to shop on-line..... much quicker than fighting traffic......and crowds ......

I suppose for those who do not live in rural America it would. I live in rural America, traffic is no a problem, & I have never bought one thing from  Amazon. And I feel quite sure their little helicopter would not reach my yard.

I do not care for all those added things buzzing around in our air space.

My last year of high school I had two study halls & I spent most of my time looking at pictures in magazines. I can't remember all the ones they had but I believe they had Look, Life, Popular Science, Mechanic Illustrated, & several more

I believe Popular Science & or Mechanic Illustrated predicting that by this time we would all have flying cars. And it I seem to remember before we got those we would have cars that drove their self while the driver sets back & talks with the passengers.

Man has many imaginations. And some even come true! Dick Tracy & his 2 way wrist radio.

I always read the funny papers on Sunday, they were cool!

I agree with Jerry. I think such a concept would invite terrorists to exploit the congested airways. We have a problem over here in Israel with terrorists that have an arsenal of 200 drones just acquired recently from Iran and sometimes they don't show up very well on radar. In fact, China has just built a "stealth" drone much like the F-117a Stealth Fighter. Those who see them from the ground would not suspect them of being potential bombers if they are used to seeing them used for mail transport and the results could be disastrous.

As convenient as that sounds, I think it's a horrible idea.

Conditioning us to accept anything....

There are flying cars now - although they cost six figures!  I'm sure one day the price will come down, but probably not much. Especially since the price of regular cars keeps rising.

I do find technology amazing in many ways.  Who would have thought that the Jetsons would have been spot-on: talking to each other with video!  Of course, there's a lot more they did that isn't true, but it's interesting that some of the imaginations for kids shows/comics have come true (like your example of Dick Tracy's watch, Jerry).

Yes, there has been flying cars but not mass produced flying cars as they predicted with many less cars running down the highways, no the highways have gotten even more congested. Most people in this country if they saw s flying car it would be the 1st one & they would be surprised.

And makes it easier for the government to spy on everyone & or whosoever they wish with everyone thinking it a deliver drone.

Also be a good way for our governments hit men & the mobsters hit men to carry out their hits. Our dear government might just wipe out a whole house to kill one person such as they've done overseas.

I know - I doubt there ever will be enough to make it affordable to those who have average or less incomes. The photo I saw was really neat.  I'd love to have one to be able to fly to my mom's a couple of times a month.

It'd be a disaster waiting to happen.

Indeed. There would need to be a whole new level of air traffic control added to our current apparatus before such could be done on more than a very, very limited scale.

Even the Amazon guy said it would be 5 or more years away.

Another spokesman also said Amazon doesn't seriously believe this will become reality, they were only wanting to highlight their attention to searching out new ways to speed delivery and provide customers with better service.
