Its quite amazing how harsh people will get towards you when you disagree with them. Many times they just say things to try & tear you down.

And its come to that.

I posted a quote on here sometime back, I can't remember the exact words, yet it went something like this, If you point out to a person they are doing something wrong, that's a sin, they will either get mad or repent, as a pastor I've found that to be true.

An honestly mistaken man, when once presented with the truth, has two choices. He must

a ) cease being honest
or
b ) stop being mistaken

Many would rather cease being honest and continue being mistaken when it comes to the alcohol issue.  They cannot give up the drunkard Jesus that allows them to get drunk like him.

And lastly, you need to stop predicting what someone feels when they post on this board, for its only God who can read the heart or man & your not God.

Sorry, Jerry...........you can't hide like that.  I think I know your heart PRECISELY given your posts. I'm not buying.  I think that I know your mind inside and out........I used to share it... a decade ago.

I MIGHT very well be wrong, but, I think I got you pegged, more or less. Men can indeed "read" a mind, if they are intimately familiar with it's thinking processes, and I used to post and speak just as you do.......exception being that my grammar was never quite so atrocious (and I thank my tee-totalling I.F.B. private school upbringing for that)..my parents spent THOUSANDS for my I.F.B. schooling, and no grammar school in three counties matches the quality of what I got there...

But you can't merely appeal to my own ignorance Jerry........I don't buy it.  I don't happen to think that I am quite as ignorant as you would like to convince me that I am.  I'm not.  And I thank my (admittedly tee-totaling, I.F.B.) education for it!

With this shout-out to quality I.F.B. KJVO Tee-totaling education....I bid you farewell for the time being..........My I.F.B. tee-totaling teachers did me an amazing turn...  God bless them, and God bless you.

Translation:."You're a DRUNK H.O.S.....and I'M RIGHTEOUS!!!!!"

Here's my rejoinder to your cogent argument: :thofftobed7lpsl4:

You gave up soda as sin?  In nursing class, I had a teacher tell the class that, in comparisson, 1 can of soda is harder on the body than 1 can of beer or glass of wine.  I have heard people stick to their guns and say smoking is sin because it hurts the body, meanwhile they are well over weight and guzzling soda.  It seemed hypocritical to me. My hats off to you for giving up soda.  That stuff is bad news.  I have a few bottles of Dew left here at work, but when they are gone, I plan on doing the same thing and giving it up.

And here I am eating a couple cupcakes!

Seriously, though, I was drinking so many sodas and Rockstars it raised my blood pressure from my normal of 125/75 to like 215/125 in a little over a week. That's when I went off Rockstar, and shortly thereafter I gave up soda, as well. My BP is back to nrmal now, though I am still about 345 pounds.

If I drank regular sodas I'd weigh 345 or more myself. My sister practically lives on Mountain Dew yet weighs little more than her skinny high school self...and she smokes...and she's a trained medical assistant and an EMT. Rather ironic how many in the health care professions eat unhealthy diets, drink lots of soda, drink alcohol excessively and smoke.

This is some "Contemporary" Christian music.........courtesy of Anglican Britons (the translators of our beloved KJV).......if only we I.F.B.'s knew how to tap into such musical expertise as this!!!

I would be very interested in hearing what folks think of this, after actually listening to it, whether pro or con.

It's absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!  Divine Music........Divine.  I wish I.F.B.'s were more commonly associated with expertly performed gospel Christ-honoring music such as this!!!!  Alas! we sometimes short-change ourselves because we refuse to even engage other denominations......who then OWN such gorgeous music as this. I don't teach "ecumenicalism".......in that we should accept their mistaken Theological teachings..........but, I do teach something like:

"These Anglicans are a liberal denomination, and frankly..........they are kicking our bums at Christ-honoring music".....let's figure out how to do what they do EVEN BETTER!!!

The song was written in 1899, same year as Lift every voice and sing and only ten years after Leaning on the everlasting arms. Is music as old as that considered CCM?

I've not heard any good music coming out of churches in the UK. It all just sounds like Bon Jovi with Christian lyrics on top. Back in the day Church music was so good that pop musicians imitated it. Nowadays, it's totally derivitive of pop music.

Here's a version by Mahalia Jackson btw.

Anyway  :ot::icon_smile:

I always called her "Ma-hallelujah" Jackson
