Last night I got a call from my mom that it looked like my dad had a mild stroke. Symptoms were of that, and so she took him to the VA in Seattle. Well....they never said no stroke, but there was bleeding in the brain from a lesion, as well as swelling. The doctor thought the bleeding had stopped, but they couldn't do what was necessary there. So they sent him to the trauma hospital in Seattle. He is there now, currently awaiting an MRI and a surgery date.

My dad is saved, as is my mom, praise the Lord for that. But I still don't want to lose him just yet. :icon_mrgreen: I would appreciate prayer for my parents, for wisdom for the doctors. I am going to be flying up there this next week to spend a couple of weeks helping my mom. My grandma is still at home (she'll be 102 in November!), and so my mom is kind of being torn in half. She wants to be with my dad, of course, but can't leave my grandma overnight. Respite care is not really a solution because my grandma hallucinates for days when strangers come in the house.

Usually when I fly up, my brother picks me up at the airport and then brings me back to the airport for the return flight. Due to work constraints, that isn't going to be possible at this point. Please pray that God will work things out.

I haven't called my dad yet. I'm a little scared to do so, because my rough, tough brother called me and was pretty shaken up after he talked with my dad. This has done a number on me, too. Being so far away is just not good!

Thanks.

Thank you for the prayers. Here's an update:

They found a tumor on his brain this morning. And, while they were at it, a spot on his lung...he is right now undergoing a cat scan to see if the brain tumor is primary (that means it began in the brain) or secondary (that means it began somewhere else and was sent to the brain). The possibility of something on the lung ups the problem, as well. We won't know until tomorrow, most likely, what's what. They thought he would have surgery today, but changed it to possibly tomorrow.

Some good news. One of the ladies at my mom's church is staying with my grandma today, so my mom is at the hospital with my dad. If the lady can stay tomorrow as well, my mom will be able to go back - and my uncle will be getting to my mom's house tomorrow evening, so my mom will be able to stay the night at the hospital. I'm flying out on Wednesday, and my uncle will stay at least until I get there. That removes a HUGE burden! God is good.

Yes, BroMatt. All things are possible with God. One of my co-workers just told me: Remember, we WALK THROUGH the valley of the shadow of death - we don't CAMP there! I'm so thankful for a loving God!

And, BTW - my mom's pastor's wife is picking me up at the airport. :icon_mrgreen: God does work things out...

And, my younger brother, whom you may remember I mentioned a while back as not having heard from him for a couple years, called my Dad twice today, talked to my Mom - and apologized for not calling...I'm sorry it took this for the apology, but at least it came before God takes my Dad home (if He does). :thumb:

Happy Christian:

Thinking of you; hope things work out for your father and hope that the whole family will be conscious of the Lord's help and grace.

Well, for the update..........

They were able to remove 100% of the tumor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Praise the Lord, and thank you so much for your prayers! They had to scrape the spot where it was attached to be sure they removed it all, so he can't move his left arm; he can move his left leg a bit, but his leg is heavy. His speech is a bit garbled still, but his memory is pretty good.

After recovery, he will have to see an oncologist about the spot on his lung, and he has to have radiation where the tumor was because it was cancer.

I'm flying out tomorrow to spend almost 2 weeks there, to help my mom. I'm hoping that he is able to come home while I am there, so I can help my mom adjust to taking care of him and my grandma.

Continued prayer is greatly appreciated.

Woo-hoo!! My mom just called to let me know that my Dad was able to lift his left arm above his head!! :clapping: He can't do anything with his hand yet, but the doctor was very pleased that he could move his arm. (I told him to be sure and put on deodorant now that he was lifting his arm above his head :icon_mrgreen: ).

Once the doctor deems him ready, he will be transferred back to the VA hospital for daily therapy. The doc doesn't know how long it will take, so I'm praying that he will be able to come home while I'm there.
