A Baptist church across the river used to run some cool commercials on the radio with "Satan" complaining about the things he didn't like about that Baptist church and how he felt so unwelcomed when he tried to visit. In one commercial "Satan" says something about seeing the Holy Ghost there and when the Holy Ghost glanced in his direction he knew it was time to leave!

The commercials are much better than I can describe and very well done and Scripture based. The commercials typically end with "Satan" asking folks not to visit that church and then finishing as if it's a letter; something like, "Please don't visit this Baptist church. Sincerely, Satan."

Those sound like rather clever commercials. I would want to visit if I saw those commercials!

I don't see anything funny or entertaining about demeaning and mocking the faith of other people.

While the method could be questioned, it's part of a Christians duty to expose false religions. Telling the truth isn't a bad thing. If the truth is accepted, it brings liberty.

They received a high number of visitors and some eventually became regulars and joined the church. It was a very effective outreach.

While some of the doctrine may be different, they still believe in Jesus, that he is the Son of God, sent to die on the cross for the forgiveness of sin, that he rose again on the third day, that he ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father, and that he will come again.

I have no doubt that there are devoted Catholics who have trust Jesus, just as there are devoted Baptists. While some of their doctorine is different, the essentials are the same. In the same way, I have no doubt that there are many peopel who have not trusted Christ in the Baptist church.

There are Catholic brothers and sisters in Christ. While we can debate and discuss differences in doctrine, I see no use in telling people they go to a church of Satan, when in fact they are a Christian church.

Insulting and demeaning people is not of Christ, and does not demonstrate a Christian attitude.

Sorry, but their differences in doctrine are sending more people to hell than to Heaven. They believe in works based salvation which is from Satan.

The RCC teaches a works based salvation, not biblical salvation as proclaimed in Ephesians 2:8, 9.

The RCC also teaches a false Jesus as they deny many of His teachings, add works as a necessity for salvation, and teach that one can lose their salvation.

The RCC teaches folks are to pray to dead people for help rather than praying to God in Jesus name.

The RCC is a false religion established by Satan as a copy of the real thing for the purpose of deceiving folks into beliving they are doing good while they are yet on the wide road to hell.

Your posts show either a lack of biblical understanding or an unwillingness to accept Scripture as given. The RCC does not follow the Word of God and they do not teach the one and only way of salvation.

I think you deeply misunderstand the Catholic church. I have some good friends who are Catholic, and without exception, they believe that salvation comes through faith in Jesus, and that it is an exercise of God's grace through Jesus. That is the essence of Christianity. They do not beleive works leads to salvation. However, James writes that faith without works is nothing. It is dead. Their understanding of works is that if we have faith, we must have works as well. That is evidence of what God has done inside of us.

The Catholic chruch and praying to the dead is different, but it is not something to part ways over. They believe in the "Communion of saints," and that that commnion with one another does not end upon death. Rather, it continues. THey see praying to a Saint no different than asking a friend to pray for them. Do I agree with that? Well no, but it is my place to say they are unchristian for doing so. They do not worship saints, they see it as asking the saints to pray and intercede on their behalf.

Is disagreeing about whether one can lose salvation an essential core doctrine? I do not believe so. The Bible teaches that whoever believes in Christ will have eternal life. Period. That's it.

I don't require another's beliefs to add up 100% with mine to still consider them Christian. In my book, if one believes in Jesus Christ as the Son of God sent by God to die on the cross and take our punishment, and that he rose again, then they are Christian. I do think it is important to discuss the other doctrine, but to say people are of teh devil because they beleive different doctrines while the core is there is not productive at al and does not show and demonstrate the love of Christ.

I've got a friend who is a priest, a partner who is a deacon in the church, and a good friend who is a parishoner. I've had many deep conversations with them about theology. I hardly have a misunderstanding.

You may have a good understanding of the Catholic church, but you don't understand how the Catholic church violates Scripture, starting with its organization to its doctrine on communion all the way to its idolatry. Researching the websites Crushmaster posted should open your eyes. And, yes, eternal security is an essential doctrine for Baptists and something to separate over, along with much of RCC doctrine.
