Hello Brother and sisters,

I am a 32yr old guy living in California. I was led to the lord in 2000 by my friend chuck. I have been on fire and luke warm at best. I am currently lukewarm to downright cold. I have not been right since i came back from the war in 2006. It rattled my faith. Then i just have a hard time believing some of the things in the bible. The devil has planted the seed. So i ask that those of you that are strong help me get right.

Welcome, Isaac. There are a number of folks on here who can help with questions you might have, and we will pray for you. One of the first things I would advise you to do is get into your Bible. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God - and if you do not read His Word, your faith cannot grow. And pray. God knows how you feel and He knows about your struggles. Talk to Him. Ask Him for help and He will help you.
:icon_pray:

And thank you for your service. I'm sure you saw horrid things over there. But remember: that kind of thing exists because man turns his back on God, not because God turns His back on man.

Thank you prayer and reading is needed.

I too would like to thank you for your service Isaac, and the advice that happy Christian gave you is right on! Faith is a decision; we choose to believe, or we choose to doubt. Don't let the devil get the best of you, chose to trust God.

Your faith sure will not grow if you don't have a home church, and a church family, and your not gathering together with them. Out on your own it will just grow cold.

Heb 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
Heb 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Your church family will provoke you unto love and good works for your Lord and Savior. Besides, God does not want you to forsake attending church services.

And I to thank you for serving out country.

I agree with everything that has been said but want to emphasize the Church family. I did two tours in Iraq before I got saved and then another afterward. When people you know and work with on a consistent basis get killed it can bring doubts and hate into your emotions and heart. I went about 2 years without a Church after I lost a friend in Iraq and it effected me deeply. I was still saved sure but I really didn't really want to serve God and tell anyone about God. I finally got back into Church and my faith soared and now I have this craving and new eagerness to get into the word of God and worship Him and serve Him so much better than I ever had before (which isn't saying much but I've come leaps and bounds being part of a Church family).

Thank you for your service to our country, Isaac.

As far as help in getting closer to the Lord:

1. Read the Bible.
1. Pray for help.
1. Get involved in a good church.
1. Listen to as much good preaching/good music as you can in your offtime.

I labeled all of these as "1." because I think without one of the four ANY Christian will grow cold and distant. With all four though, you'll find yourself growing in the Lord.

Rev. 4:11 tells us that we're created to please Him. If you do what you're made to do, you won't feel empty, you'll feel fufilled. Sure you'll have hard and frustrating times. It's worth it though, if at the end of your race in frot of the millions of other saints Jesus Christ Himself tells you, "Well done thou good and faithful servant."

Thank you so much for all of you replies. I have begun reading again. I have also began praying. I feel weak but convicted but i believe the lord will help me.

That is great to hear, for it sounds as if your on the right track. Just remember, we all have our moments, when we do we just need to turn to Jesus, and He will help us along our paths.
