I'm almost exclusively on OBL, and like Kitagrl, I do notice ebbs and tides of people. Some of it has to do with their own personal schedules. (Their work hours change, or their responsibilities change). Some have had their work places block their ability to be on forums or have instituted a monitoring of web activity, making them reluctant to chat when they normally would have. Additionally, FB does absorb the energy and time of many people. Finally, a forum is content driven. If it seems that the content is relatively static, people get out of the habit of coming. This summer, we contacted every member on OBL inviting them to come back. You'd be surprised how many ladies said they had joined the site and had since forgotten about it. That contact cause several to return and participate. I agree that an argumentative spirit discourages discourse. One reason I mainly stay on OBL is that the spirit there is one of encouragement. Not a lot of friction exists, but lots of nurturing, Bible study and encouragement abounds. Now, here comes my gratuitous plug of OBL, we are just concluding a 12 week study on how we can practically glorify God with each member of our bodies. It has been exciting and instructive. You should stop by and check it out! Keep posting here too. OB and OBL can only be as great as its contributors!:thumb:
