First of all, you have to make the "master mix", then you make the mix for the pancakes. Don't worry, both steps are easy! Master Mix-- 5 1/2 cups whole wheat flour 1 cup corn meal 1 cup oats 1 cup wheat germ 5 tablespoons baker powder 1 tablespoon salt mix all ingredients together and store in an air tight container to keep it fresh. When you want to make pancakes, take your "Master Mix" and do the following Pancakes-- 1 cup milk (water can be substituted for dairy allergy folks) 1 egg 2 tablespoons oil (can substitute apple sauce for the oil) 1 cup Master Mix Mix it all together and make up some breakfast that will stay with you. You can even make …

I love egg rolls. I rarely get them but the other day they were on sale at the store and I had a great coupon so I bought some. What is your fave kind and what with what kind of sauce? I like the chicken/veggie ones with sweet and sour or duck sauce.

Is anyone planning a special Easter dinner this year? It will be chilly here so I am making stew, and a veggie, and home made bread and cookies. Our daughters will be bringing veggies and dessert. We hope to have a wonderful time of fellowship too. CJP56.

Hey all, I need your help. I grew up on a cattle ranch and ate beef every day of the week from hamberger to steak. Those were the best days of my life I have had to retire due to medical issues steming form birth defects in my legs. Anyway, a long story short, I eat way to much fat filled food and have gained about 40 pounds since retirment. Does anyone have any good fat free recipes for say Elk Meat or other meals that are quick to fix? I love the whole wheat pasta but it is hard to find around here. I realize the statement "fat free meat" is a contradiction so im amending it to low fat meat dishes. That is why we eat elk meat to. It is lean and they ar…

Hi Everybody, :Green Presently I'm in an inventive mood and am seeking suggestions for things you'd like to have on hand when you do canning, freezing, jelly-making, and other types of food-processing. So far the things I would like to see and have are the following:::::::::::: #1. A lima bean sheller (these are available from Shumway Seeds) #2. Lengthwise slicer for green beans (also available from Shumway) #3. Low-pressure boiler/evaporator for reducing/concentrating juices at refrigeration temperatures. #4. A sweet-corn processor. This machine/device/system would accept the ears as husked and silked and then flash-blanch, chill, cut-off the corn ker…

I made these delectable treats yesterday - they're way tooooo goooood! I ended up freezing about half of them so we wouldn't eat them too fast. They taste very very close to Cinnabon's cinnamon rolls. Here's the site with the recipe: Cinnabon Rolls. It's my favorite website to find recipes.

How is this done? I was looking at some cooking instructions for a rice meal and it stated the rice should be rinsed until the water becomes clear. Considering the rice would go right through all of the strainers we have how is one supposed to rinse their rice? Is it necessary to rinse the rice?

Does anyone have one of those rice/past cookers that's made for a microwave? Do places like Wal-Mart sell them or can they only be found over the internet? Any experiences or recommendations of a good one to try?

Just wanted to say I ordered a Braun hand processor...those 3-in-1 things that has a hand blender (for soups and etc), mini chopper, and mini whisk. I LOVE IT! I have finally, after four kids, decided to make my own baby food! I just take some veggies or something from dinner and use the hand blender and puree it right up. Its great. And baby loves it tons better than baby food...with my last child we used commercial baby food and he hated it...the commercial baby food stage was short with him. So this time I decided to make it nonexistant! My husband is really excited that for $35 we saved almost all baby food money! Not to mention I practically powderized so…

I've made stew a few times where the flavor comes out pretty good, but it was just by chance. I really don't know what I'm doing. So.... anyone have a good recipe? We prefer not too many veggies (picky, I know), more potatoes and meat... But I don't know when to add things and such... Too many times its got to boiling with the potatoes in it and creates a mushy mess! :bonK:

Realizing the escalating costs of foods and other commodities, this is an idea that might have some merit. :Green Now is the time to thnk about this, before the canning/freezing and food-processing season is upon us. A thread in the Biblical Issues section on wine got me to thinking about this. We know from historical studies that the Israelites would reduce fresh squeezed grape juice by as much as 10:1 to make heavy syrups. Then they would re-constitute it with water. Personally, I don't think all of that boiling that they did to it did the flavor any benefit at all. I imagine the sugar content was exceedingly high, but the flavor would have been completely was…

My brother got me a convection oven for Christmas that is also a toaster oven and has a rotisserie in it. We did a roast last night. The meat was moist!!! Hubby can't wait to try a chicken, now. Does anyone else have one? If so, do you have any suggestions for fixing stuff on it?

I need ideas for lunches... I have a fridge and microwave where I work. I want stuff that I can make a bunch of Sunday night and it will carry over for a few days (or all week). Preferably a bit healthier (hot pockets are getting a bit old ) but not so healthy its gross (like salad or something). Also, as a warning, if it sounds really good or something, I might ask for a recipe, so be prepared! Any ideas?

I'm not a fan of ham because I don't like pork. But I just realised today after someone had told me that ham isn't restricted to pork only, but can also refer to: :-S :duh Love, Madeline

We love this! It might sound strange, but it's tasty! Sorry it's not exact measurements. Dilly Beef Burgers 2-4 lb beef roast pickle juice cheese onions hot dog buns Put the roast in the crockpot, and cover with dill pickle juice (strain out the dill/seasoning bits so it's just the juice). Cook on low til well done and shreds easily (6 hours?) Take out roast and shred and put in other bowl. Spoon out a bunch of the dill juice into the beef so it's good and moist. Add about a cup of shredded cheese to the beef and warm in the microwave if it's not hot anymore. Serve on hot dog buns with either raw onion slices, or sauteed onion. We love it with lots of saute…

This may be an old topic but there are a lot of new posters on here, so, my question is: What favorite or traditional foods will you eat on New Year's Day? In my family pork and cabbage was served; specifically: stuffed cabbage rolls served with mashed potatoes. I don't think my Mother ever got to see the Rose Parade. Cabbage rolls take a lot of time to make, but they are worth it!!!!! CJP56

I am going to try a recipe that calls for cooking a 4 pound pork roast for 2 to 3 hours in a cooking bag. The roast I have is a 4 pound loin that is a foot long and about 4 or 5 inches across and is boneless. Does 2 to 3 hours sound like that is too long??? Especially since it will be in a cooking bag?? CJP56

A couple of years ago we were served a breakfast casserole that was absolutely delicious. It consisted of hashbrowns, eggs, sausage, cheese...and I can't remember what else. I would like to be able to fix this on Christmas morning for my parents and us. Does anyone know what I'm talking about or have a recipe for anything similar? Thanks.
