Being part of a small church we always seem to have some sort of distraction. While in a larger church some distractions may not be all that noticeable, smaller churches they become a bigger distraction. Our service yesterday started off like it normally does and everything was going along as planned. My daughter was scheduled to sing the special right before the preaching. We had a guest speaker Jonathan Lyons the VP for Missions for Forgotten Peoples with us. In the middle of my daughters special, I noticed a gentlemen coughing a little, then it keep getting louder and more frequent. Then the gentlemen next to him started doing the same thing. I didnt think…

"The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” Have the roosters come home to roost in America? Is it "MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN" for the good ol' US of A? I don't want to be an alarmist and I'm not saying "The End is Nigh" but can a nation that has abandoned God like ours has not end up being shelved and left to our own devices to eat the fruit of our works? "Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.”- Proverbs 1:31 If we come through this fiery trial we are presently experiencing it will be because of the supplication of the righteous for the mercy of God, but honestly, …

This statue of Christ as a child playing with Joseph's carpenter tools. This sculpture is in the Louvre in Paris. Did the artist select the awl as a symbol of Christ's crucifixion?

The book of Proverbs is one of my favorite books in the Bible. I also like proverbs in general, from my own culture and from that of others. Proverbs are packages of truths using few words. I will list a few below and would appreciate others adding proverbs they like in this thread. If you pick up one end of a stick you also pick up the other. -- Ethiopian proverb. Seek friends who are better than you, not your own kind. -- Chinese proverb All clouds do not give water. -- Estonian proverb I leave the interpretation of these proverbs up to you.

The American Culture lays great stress on individualism. There is good reason why this developed in our culture. On the frontier and in the west a person had to rely on themselves and their family. There was no one else around. Thus, my right to be myself and do what I want is deeply ingrained in our culture. I see this as both a great strength and a great weakness. Thus, the question becomes when does the right of the many supersede the right of the individual? Though we place great value on the rights of the individual we do put limits on that right. We do not consider it a right to murder others, to steal from others, etc. Where should the limit on individual rig…

I guess since people are searching for this topic. what's your thoughts on having a baby in the end times?

A ‘promise being left’ ‘upon the Israel of God’ (Gal.6:16), ‘of entring into his rest’ (Heb.4:1), ‘the seventh day’ (Heb.4:4), yet acts, because ‘one day is with the Lord as a thousand yeeres, and a thousand yeeres as one day’ 2Pet.3:8. Israel will be able to say after its purification, ‘The Lord is my God’, and God will say, It is my people’ (Zech.13:9), ‘for beholde, I create Ierusalem a reioycing, and her people a ioy. And I wil reioyce in Ierusalem, and ioy in my people’ (Is.65:18-19) ‘¶ And in that day there shall bee a roote of Iesse, which shall stand for an ensigne of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seeke, and his rest shall bee glorious.’ (Is.11:10) ‘Th…

With this disease spreading fast the Christian Law Association posted the following a week ago. https://christianlaw.org/pray-for-healing-keep-fervently-sharing-the-gospel/ Mega churches are cancelling services to help stop the spread of the Coroana virus. Has anyone's church here done anything, and is there a panic in your church/community about all of this? Me being outside NYC, everyone is in a panic.

Because you have not seen fit to properly introduce yourself as is customarily polite on most message forums, I would like to ask that you please take the time to introduce yourself in our "introduction" forum. A customary introduction allows other members of the forum to get to know you and properly welcome you to our small group. Here at Online Baptist part of a proper introduction will include a bit of your history, a statement of your salvation experience and any other things that help us get to know who you are and what you believe. This is especially important when someone such as yourself bursts on the scene as a full blown teacher with no introduction.

In the first two chapters of the first book of the Bible, God, as the Author of the Scriptures, reveals fundamental truths to us. In the prophetic meaning of verses, we are given answers to the most important questions of mankind: “What is the meaning of human life?”, “Why did God create Lucifer?”, “How people who lived before the incarnation of the Son of God and did not have the words of truth could please God and receive eternal safety in Christ?”, “What is God’s purpose in creating the world?” The first chapter of Genesis and the last chapter of the book of Revelation are the first and last chapters in the Bible, and therefore have their own peculiarity. They speak of…

So, what Biblical error do you come across often that just drives you nuts? Here is mine: Pictures of the Lord's Supper with LEAVENED bread! Drives me NUTS! Where does anyone get the idea that the Lord's Supper, which was established using specifically unleavened bread, and considering the fact that the Bible uses leaven as a symbol of sin more than once, that we ought to be using leavened bread? Now, I am against the use of any fermented wine for the cup, but at least I kind of understand the reason for that error. But LEAVENED bread for the body of Christ? Can anyone explain WHY this is done? Maybe someone here uses leavened bread and you can explain why.

Just thought a give a little update on how a civilized country, and a country that follows its CONSTITUTION, Taiwan, conducts "Home Quarantine" for : (1) Individuals with COVID-19 ; (2) Persons recently entering Taiwan. Please take careful note. A civilized country, or a government that does not have an hidden agenda, quarantines those with THE DISEASE or those WHO ARE SUSPECTED on having the disease. For your information, due to our just recent travel from a country, the US, that has a high incident of COVID-19 we are under a mandatory 14-day quarantine. By the way, Taiwan has one of the lowest death rates of COVID-19 among those countries that has the diseas…

Why I am here I have a personal attachment to the Old Testament and the verses contained therein. This includes the verses where the Lord talked directly to the Israelite people. In this one-way discussion the Lord laid out directives for them to follow and the blessing they would get if they followed His suggestions. I took these directives and compared them to historical events and found them wanting. Personally, I would like to see the Israeli people change their ways by embracing the stranger (Palestinian) and treat them as one of their own just as the Lord instructed them to do. I truly believe this “example” would create a wave of peace across the middle east. …

With our prayer meeting on Wednesdays our pastor has been teaching subjects. NT Survey Sermon On The Mount Apologetics and now Psalms 119. Each week a new letter from the Hebrew and the eight accompanying verses. All of these studies have been great. I'm really enjoying this last one. We just completed GIMEL verses 17-24. I'm looking forward to DALETH.

The news has always been filled with doom and gloom, but due to the events of the past few months, the doom and gloom seems to have inundated every aspect of life. Recently I have read articles explaining that some people are so unable to cope with enforced isolation that they have taken their own lives. The articles warn that similar cases will increase before this current epidemic has been brought under control and life returns to normal. Unfortunately many churches/pastors have embraced this doom and gloom mentality, their only focus seems to be on what has been lost due to the church doors being shut. They seem to be spinning in circles, unable to help themselve…

I don't think anyone on the forum knows Heidi (with the possible exception of Jordan). She was a college student who worked with us in our nursing home ministry. She struggled with many emotional issues, and succumbed to depression by killing herself. The family desires that the story be told and that her death will not be in vain. It's 30 minutes, so doesn't take long, but it's very much worth it. Please listen and even share it with others. https://unshackled.org/listen/latest-program/?fbclid=IwAR2kC7jGlk55AeNujJoix082YMJVFNOPbKGwcw33_GPtl9R7V6DSP02_Has

Brethren, In mainland, or Communist, China, the communist government is using the Conoravirus situation to further crackdown on churches. If you read the article carefully you will notice that after the churches started to broadcast their services via the internet the crackdown intensified. Also, you may want to notice that the videos, and the recorded messages, werre used against the speakers and even the members of the congregations. Quote, "Religious freedom watchdogs say the Chinese Communist Party is using the coronavirus outbreak as cover for further persecuting religion, tearing down some churches and using cameras to carefully monitor others. The Vo…

My daughter and her husband work at a hospital in Jacksonville, Fl that has run out of masks. She sent a CDC approved pattern to my wife. It involves cotton and elastic. If anyone would be willing to make and mail them I can try to get the pattern to you (maybe she and I can figure out how to get it from her phone to a link in this post) and the shipping address. If a hospital near you needs masks and will authorize the use of these, you and your churches or friends might be able to help health care workers in your area. Anyone interested can let me know (this thread or PM) and I'll try to get the info on here (my wife is making some, I'll later tell 'x' # for 'y' yards -…

The Lord has blessed me with opportunities to travel through out the Northeast preaching at different Churches and Baptist Colleges. Due to the virus all my recent meetings have been cancelled, but I'm looking forward to starting up again when this is over. Anyways, I recently (3 weeks ago) took my girls and one of our church teens with me to preach at Vision Baptist College in NJ to look at the school and sit in on classes. While I was there to preach I figured I'd let the girls sing in chapel. The girl playing the piano & the girl on the right are my daughters, and the girl on the left is a teen that was saved on our bus ministry and is looking at attend…
