We are going to honor veterans in a few weeks so I need something nice but cheap we can give them...I found a nice pin but it was like $4 and times 25 that is still $100 and our church is financially low right now...any ideas asap? Maybe a nice little christian booklet, or cheaper pin, or...? Thanks!

Well its a special Sunday and we planned to do it. I just thought someone would know of a nice little gift booklet, or a more wholesale place to get some little gift pins or something.

Suzy, when our son and a friend of his left for Basic, we gave them a bookmark that I had made from a picture I got. We put on there that we were praying for them. I changed it a bit and put a thank you on there - here it is. Feel free to use it if you'd like. You could get 4-6 on a sheet. Run it off in color on card stock, and you could either give it to them like that or laminate it for not much more. Or not use it, whatever you like.

Maybe even put the plan of salvation on the back of it.

Here is an idea...a simple "thank you" as TRC said. If the Vet expects something than there is something wrong with him/her.

Play the Star spangled Banner, say thanks, and maybe even have a poem. Thant is more than sufficient.

For our salute to veterans, the piano player learned all each military branch's song. Then the veterans of each service stood when their song was played. Veterans also were given lapel pins with crossed American and Christian flags.

Off topic, sorry, but Chevy mentioned something that reminded me of this. I've wanted something to put out by the road to let everyone know I'm a Christian, never come up with the right thing, but I've been leaning to the thought of a Christian flag. What do you think of that idea?

Lot of good ideas

I like it. We'd love to have a Christian flag to fly with our American flag.

Recognize them by having them stand up by branch of service and give the one with the longest service time (per branch) extra accolades, the ones wounded extra accolades. Or have them all come down front across the alter to be recognized. Give the longest service time a nice pin, at the most thats $20, if you include the Coast Guard. Or give them a $10 gift certificate since times have been so hard on your church. Or, have the pastor seek out a few rich parishoners who could spring the entire $100.
